Looking good man
Looking great.
Looking good Doug. Nice detail on the kill stripes.
Right on!. Looks great, so far!
very nice indeed
Thanks everyone. Just working on the scratches now. Boy Fett's helmet was sure beaten up. If he was so good how come he got hit soooooo much.![]()
SO are you going topical now? And the cheeks look black the ROTJ helmet has a blue-ish upper cheek just thought you might want to know
Yeah topical. Layered was too much for me.Yeah I first sprayed the upper cheeks blue and then misted them with black. The picture just doesn't show it. One of these days I am going to buy a better camera!!
In stead of using black on the cheeks use blue and green , ESB has black cheeks were jedi greeny blue
Ok. Finally getting close. I know this is not 100% movie accurate but I think it has turned out great. I do have a question about the weathering. I am using spray paint, and have an idea but what tricks/tips are there on doing the weathering? I figure you lightly mist it from a ways away and maybe cover some of the sections so it doesn't get on it? Would you typically use flat black and maybe grey or brown? This is my first bucket but all in all I have learned a ton thanks to everyone here.
Thanks in advance for your tips/tricks.

No dont do that, give it a dirty was down , I get some black and brown and oaka acrylics or water colours mix it up with alot of water so its basicly justs paint water,I brush it on or dab it on witrh a rag cover completly let dry then with a dry rag clean it up to desired affect , then hit it with a coat of Testors dull coat,
Looks Phenominal!!!
Excellent BGHunter! Thanks for the tip. I will try that.
Dynamic1, thanks I think it has turned out good!

You did a pretty good job bud...only things I see that jump out at me are the upper cheeks still look black maybe dust it with some green and blue to change the hue? Also the kill stripes are kinda duller than what I like for them, looks to yellow and not orange enough, did u sand them and that happen they looked better before could be camera tricks though
Thanks Fett4Real. That means alot. The kill stripes are orange. (I will try and get a better shot of them, they were really orange until I hit them with the dullcote). I will try and hit the upper cheeks maybe with a little bit of blue.
Ok. This lid is done. I know the cheeks aren't as blue as they should be to be movie accurate, but for my first time doing anything like this, I think it turned out pretty good. Took BGHunter's advice and gave it an acrylic Black and Burnt Umber wash to weather it. Then gave it a final coat of Dullcote. Now onto installing the foam and fans. Tried to mount an old pair of glasses in it but it didn't work right. Might have to think about this some more. Maybe time for a pair of contacts to use while trooping I guess. Thanks to everyone here on the board for the comments and help. Couldn't have done it without you. Thanks all.
