TK409 Helmet Smashed (viewer discretion advised)

I wouldnt think a helmet falling from atop a manniquin would have done that much damage to a helmet. and that still doesnt explain the blunt trama it would have had to recieve to flak off paint. It looks like someone took a hammer to it.

If it did thats some sort of magic falling in two places at once to put a whole in the top and to break off the side. Its just my opinion but from the facts I have it looks intentional.

ohh also sorry to see this happen, your Fett is what inspired me to build my own and its a shame if someone did this on purpose, if accident then its just one of those things that sucks in life.

I was thinking about your damaged helmet and how it fell. You probaly know this already but thought I'd share my guess. Did it supposedly happen in your office? If that is what people are telling you, make sure to piece everything together. If any pieces (even paint chips) are missing, then it should be in the room. If you don't find the chips, most likely it was damaged outside the room and someone was wearing it. Judging by your photos, the carpet could have provided some cushion when it fell and not make the helmet bounce for two damaged areas. My reasoning is if the mannequin fell wearing the helmet, the mandible would've broken. However the top is questionable due to the angle. Also i would look at the angle of the broken areas to see which way it was forced to break. Example of what i mean is if the breaks (looking from outside) are concave then it was something hitting it. Convex if something pushed it out from the inside (which would probaly leave marks on the mannequin head). I hope if someone was messing with it, they come clean. Either way it is awful that this happened. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Hehe, "CSI: Mandalore"! I got all forensic when I looked at it too! 8)

If you reaaly want to go CSI, then you need to dust for fingerprints. Then get prints from every employee with access, and compare!

In my further forensic analysis...when my helmet fell, the left earcap fell off, but my helmet hit the wood floor, and that was only damage, judging if the manaquin fell, yes the helmet wouldn't of hit as hard, especially with the blaster extended enough, it would of just if anything, damaged in the back from the helmet hitting the head, and than rolled off the head. Now from experience of hitting painted things with a hammer, paint chipped off, and the hole was in a controlled area...which looks like what might of happened, carefully examine the pieces that came off the big hole for any kind of hammer marks. As for the mandable..that wouldn't of broken from that fall again, because it more than likely would of rolled off and did if anything, knocked the RF or earcaps off.

My conclusion still remains, that the extent of the damage is far too great for just falling off a falling manaquin, if that helmet decided to magically hop of the manaquin head and than hit the ground...than the damage seems feaseable for the mandable, that hole however can't possibly be from a fall, unless it landed on something that was more or less pointed. Trust me I've seen all sorts of things get damaged in my life, especially working constuction.

Oh, btw when I saw that helmets damage, the way I reacted was as follows: If you've seen National Lampoons Animal House, when they are cleaning out the Deltas fraturnity house and the guy trips and the bottle of Alcohol hits the ground and Bluto goes...."OOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!" That was the way I reacted seeing that!

Oh man that must suck, if it was a malicous act that person's entrails should be made into extrails. Did you look on any corner of a close by desk or file cabinet? If it hit that it could do that kind of damage if it fell straight and plus there should be some scuff marks on the corner's, but then again it looks like maybe someone was trying to aim for the already dent in the helm. Sorry to see that happen makes me think twice about when mine is complete bringing it to work.

Hey Sarge, welcome back to TDH. :)

Chris, with your skill and dedication, I'm sure we can expect to see another stellar helmet once Sarge gets one off to you.

Like many others, I'm still baffled by how the helmet managed to break in such an odd manner...:confused Could it have been stepped on?

I don't know if it's a good idea to be putting the, "your co-workers did it." idea into Chris' head. We don't really want to have him judge everyone the next day he goes into work.

I just wouldn't sweat about it. You can repair it, SgtFang said he's replace that one, there's no need to point fingers. Just say, "Yeah, it must have fallen while on the mannequin and some cleaning crew must have picked it up for me." If you sweat about it, someone will have gained pleasure in its destruction, but if you don't, they might feel bad about what they did. I'm not saying that they'd fess up, but they probably wouldn't want to do it again.

Chris, it was your website and photos that made me want to do my own fett, bottom line its your fault im in so much fett debt ;) but I cant thank you enough, I cant imagine how I'd feel if it were my helmet but it looks like you'll be sorted out now, welcome back sarge!!! and also Chris are you gonna bring your Threepio pics over here? Its simply amazing! all the best

Joe

Well the mannequin has a tall bare pvc pipe neck and that's what probably hit the top of the helmet when he went down (I think).

You guys have been a great group of brothers to commiserate with. Thanks! Now to see if I can resurrect this one.

Or I could begin work on my "Back from Sarlacc" Fett :) Anyone have any post-Sarlacc reference (just for fun?)

Regarding my C-3po photos, I figured people would be tired of it from other forums, so I didn't show them over here, but I'll post them over in the Sarlacc. Threepio is the reason I've been away for so long. I'll bring him to DragonCon and will get lots of photos and video there as well.

Man, you weren't kidding about that, that's like a crime scene photo. If you can rebuild it, go for it since it is signed, but I wouldn't troop in it if you repair it. I'd just put it in a big plexiglass box or something to display it. Lots of luck, it's a shame to see a fine piece of work like that in fragments.

Well, despite that, I still don't see that extent of damage. :(

I'm not saying to point the finger at anyone, I'm just saying the ammount of damage that has sustained doesn't seem probable to be from the mannequin just falling over...

I have foam head I used to sculpt stuff on when I was first getting into making masks, if you want it to keep your next helmet from getting that pvc pipe jammed through it you can have it.

That bites hard! My condolences brother...
Still, you can do it! Bring it back from the dead!
It's well worth the effort.

Jono!

Man I just now saw this post, that sucks bad. I'm really sorry that happened to you chris. THATS IT WHO EVER DID THIS WILL NEVER EAT ANOTHER TACO!
