TF2 ROTJ Paint-up

Im transitioning into painting up some helmets this year. Just thought I would try my skills on an ROTJ bucket paint-up as the first one for the year. Ive NEVER painted a ROTJ lid as I've been an SE Fett for the longest time. Since I have an insanely awesome ESB helmet, this gives me a chance to try the ROTJ. Here is the killer new TF2 lid from Terminal Fettler (Garrett). One HIGHLY detailed and accurate kit from a great artist and even better friend.

I just completed all the prep work. Although not much to do, Garrett's kit is always top notch and clean.I thought it would be cool to add some scratches and gouges with a dremel and fine detailed bit. Hopefully you can see them in the pic.

This will be a challenge. I'm using all acrylic and mostly layered technique. And.....Im a totally rookie with painting helmets. Anyway maybe you guys can enjoy....or learn from my mistakes. LOL.

Take a close look at the dent in the MOM pics theres a guoge in the dent you didnt capture yet.

And the big one in the right mandible ( when wearing it)

Few small updates. Added two more marks of damage. Then masked light grey for subtle damage under keyslots.

Slowly but surely. I'm leaving out all the extremely small detail inside the big patterns. I can detail them at the close of the back panels. Here I'm stenciling the big patterns. The misting the grimy black up the back panels. Stenciling again. Next is the masking fluid and then the main green color. Getting there and learning along the way.

Ok so some good and bad with the main colors and patterns with the back panels. Love the colors. The masking wasn't as crisp as id like it but I can always re do it later down the road. I bought some super fine brushes to hit the fine details on the back of the panels and key slots so it's not finished yet.

Haha, glad to help bro. TF needs time to finish that superb ESB effort, so feel free to direct any questions my way.. :)
