Superjedi's MSH2 Supertrooper

Hi all!
Well here's something you don't see a lot of these days: a genuine MSH2. :)
I bought this from an RPF member and it's a very nice piece of fan-made
Fett history!

The helmet is fiberglass, and it's solid as a BRICK.

Here are some comparison shots with some other well-known helmets.
Note the size differences.

First up is the FPH, painted as hero ESB.
IMG_2523.JPG
Relatively similar overall with some proportional differences.

Next is the TerminalFettler fiberglass bucket, painted as PP3.
IMG_2522.JPG
Slightly smaller, and as you are beginning to see, the dome
on the MSH2 is quite prominent compared to some of the
more modern offerings.

Here is the Bobamaker "dentless" fiberglass kit, painted as PP1 (Eyes.)
IMG_2521.JPG
The BM and the TF are fairly similar overall.

Finally, the fiberglass GMH in it's PP2 glory. :)
IMG_2520.JPG
Quite significant size and proportion differences between
these two, eh? Very interesting indeed!

I haven't decided what to do with this helmet yet. As some of you
may know, my goal is to have one representation of every version
of Boba Fett's helmets in my collection, and to have each one painted
from a different "make" of helmet. The two versions I haven't done yet
are the white Supertrooper, and the ROTJ paint scheme.

Not sure what I'll do with this one. I'm thinking I'd like something like
the Asok CC for ROTJ. So I may wind up doing this one as the Supertrooper,
or I may just keep it in my collection as a piece of historical memorabilia. :D

Beautiful mate. Think I agree with your sentiments on super trooper or keeping as is. Think rotj may be better suied to a asok fp. Regardless of what way you go, no doubt you'll do a stellar job brother!

I stared at that FS thread on the RPF for days. I couldn't figure out what to do with it if I bought it. Glad you picked it up. It will be awesome with whatever paint scheme you choose.

I decided what to do with this bad boy.

Supertrooper! No in-progress pics for this build, as it was pretty quick.
To begin with, I gave the helmet a good sanding. The primer that was on it when I received
it was fairly thick, and there were a couple of drips visible. A solid two or three hours over a
couple of days smoothed everything out nicely.

IMG_2530.JPG

I re-primed with Duplicolor primer to give a good base for my topcoat, then I sprayed a couple of
fairly heavy coats of Rustoleum Professional gloss white. I had used this paint once before on my
McQuarrie concept v.2 helmet (following another member's recommendation) and it gives a
really durable, amazingly glossy finish.

The helmet as I received it had the right lower ear piece and the right upper ear cap separate, so
I gave them the same treatment as the rest of the helmet. I fixed them using small machine screws
epoxied into the ear parts.

I hand painted the small details. The turn signals were done with C & O Enchantment Blue and
Rock Island maroon. The Borden and the silver areas on the right ear were done with Bright Silver.

For the RF assembly, I got an Asok 3-piece RF kit and a solid aluminum stalk. I drilled one hole
through the top of the stalk for a small machine screw and attached it with a nut from the inside.
Easy peasy!

So another version done and added to the collection! :) I still need a visor for this one.
Here's my newly expanded helmet display. As seen in the picture, the helmets are:
ESB Hero (FPH).................PP2 (GMH)
PP3 (Terminal Fettler)........PP1 (Bobamaker)
Supertrooper (MSH2).........McQ v.2 (Skygunbro)
McQ v.1 (Skygunbro)

Looks great and that collection is most impressive. Ahem...
I've just recieved one of Skygunbros concept v.1 helmets myself. I'd like to see more pics of your final product.

Awesome job as always, but... The original Supertrooper helmet was a dentless helmet (later transformed in the Pre-Pro #1 suit) and the dented variations were already made with the Boba Fett character in mind. Another feature of the helmet but was never attributed to the Supertrooper/Pre-Pro #1 helmet (this is already a generally known thing) are the 2 dental files in the rear keyhole:

Hi Raf!
Yeah, there are different reference pics of the concept suit, and I used these
images from the TDH reference gallery for this helmet:

I haven't added a backer behind the keyslots yet. I'll have to see about picking
up an MQ-1 circuit board casting. Once I place that in the helmet, I have some resin
copies of the dental files I can attach also. :)

I like to reffer to the Supertrooper helmet as the dentless one, because it was the only suit assembled and fully functional. The dented version is the first change that transformed the Supertrooper in the unique character named Boba Fett. But this is just my opinion...
