Superjedi's GMH as ESB for Seven

UPDATE: February 5, 2014

Whew! Been busy with the boring real world the past few days, but I finally got
back into the Fett routine. I've been working on the RF ear parts the past couple
of days. The damage has been applied to the lower part, and I've gotten the
arches airbrushed onto the upper part.
The silver damage that you see on the lower part is scratched through to the base
metal with a number 11 X-acto blade.

I'll do the detail painting on the upper part next, then give both parts a light weathering
with some brown and gray pastel powders. After that I'll do the small markings.

I also got the Borden done. I applied a 2 layer wash. The first layer was a light beige, and
the second layer was a pale green. It gives the brass a patina while letting some of the
metal sheen come through. I finished by adding the small silver chips.
The Borden is not fixed in place yet. I won't glue it in until after the helmet receives
its final pass of dull coat. It'll keep the shine that way. (y)

It's starting to come down to the wire now. :)

Thanks again, guys. :)

Catbread, yeah I use my airbrush to do the "major" colors, then use a fine detail brush
to do all the small damage areas. It's kind of backwards from the layered method.

FINAL UPDATE: February 8, 2014

After 49 days, this one is done! (y)
Seven plans to install the visor and the RF topper himself at a later date, so I've
taken this one as far as I can. I completed the pastel weathering, added some
rusty stains to the RF stalk, finished the markings on the RF ear and installed the
ears, the Borden, and the MQ-1 insert.

Here is a carefully selected, hand crafted group of final pics.

It's been fun completing my first commission of 2014!
I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of the helmet, Patrick! Thanks for trusting me with your GMH. :)

Love the 'daddy GMH' and love your work on this lid Eric! Superb paint up - i'll cheers my splendid tequila on the rocks i'm enjoying to this job my friend! :)

I don't know how you drink tequila, Jonny.
I mean, since you're down in Australia where everything is upside down, I literally
don't know how you drink tequila (or anything else) without spilling it all over the place.
Do you have to hang by your knees from a tree branch or something?

I love this paintjob. I'm repainting my Black Series using a combination of masking and topical layering and yours really shows what you can do with these techniques
