Well then I guess it will be in the Lucks gallery.

Thanks a lot for following along, everyone.
DadaQT, welcome to TDH. You're definitely in the right place for all things Fett!

Eric, you are a genius my good man, a simply superb job! One tiny detail that I found when adding in the fine stuff for us 'accuracy nuts', is on the brighter red areas added. They seem to actually have a light, fine outline around them - particularly the two areas you have done a close up for. While its only a minute detail, it seems to actually bring them out a little more and differentiate them a touch from the main mandible red. Great pick up on the weathering on the viewfinder too - this was also something i noticed and tried to replicate after carefully dissecting the reference pics.

As always my friend, just a pleasure to see a paint up of this magnitude, and always great discussing things with another 'slave to accuracy'. Pure Gold brother!

SJ you are incredible, always in awe of your work. This ESB is beautiful. Wouldn't it be amazing if the great TDH Fett painters were in a gallery? That would be some exhibit.

The attention to detail is amazing, dont know if i missed a post but can you talk about what brushes you are using for the detail work or your technique?

Wow. . . thanks so much, all! I've been a member here for nearly a decade now and I've
gotten so much inspiration, help, and tips from other TDHers over the years. I just hope
that my threads help you guys out as you build up your own costumes.

Doing this kind of work is sometimes tedious, but I find that it's very relaxing and rewarding
at the same time. It's my "meditation" time. Doing these helmets for other members
helps keep my skills sharp and allows me to try out new techniques.

For those of you who are doing your own paint ups, the 2 keys are PATIENCE and. . . PATIENCE.
I've been guilty of trying to rush through certain areas, but over the years I've learned
to take my time. Every stage of a project like this is equally important, and the thing to
remember is that "it's done when it's done."

Hi S88. Thanks again! There's nothing terrifically special about the materials I use.
My airbrush is a beat up old Testors Aztek that I've had for probably 6 years now. You know,
the kind with the interchangeable tips.
For detail painting, I've tried a lot of different brushes, but the ones that I use most
often are just run of the mill Testors Model Master detail brushes in size 0 and 000. They're
good quality, and work equally well with enamels or acrylics. If you take good care of them
they'll last for a good long while. My "favorite" 000 brush has been on my hobby bench for
at least 2 years now. Painting some details with brushes so small takes a while, but I can
really get some super fine detail using just those two brushes.

OK, guess I've rambled on long enough.
Helmet-wise, I have shaped the aluminum visor tabs and they are epoxied into the helmet.
I'll fit the visor tomorrow and that will finish this puppy up!
Still working on the second set of ears, too.

Thanks again, guys. How you been, Alex?

    UPDATE: Feb 6, 2013

    The helmet is complete.
Not much more to see from the previous update. So here are a
    few final beauty shots.

Face to face with the Fett.

    Left angle.

    Right angle.

This won't be the final update for the thread. I'm still working on that second
set of ears. This is my mid-term week at school, so it's slow going.

Let me just say that with the metal parts, this is one heavy bucket! I'm really
surprised at how much this thing weighs. I believe Scott is going to use this
for a display piece. I'd say that's good, because I can't imagine trooping with
that kind of weight on my melon for any length of time.

Such an amazing job!!! I've actually been working on what I believe is a MSH that I bought off of ebay 2 or 3 years ago. My helmet has been unfinished all this time, simply painted silver, but I just haven't taken the time to work on it. Threads like this one have inspired me to get busy with my bucket. So much work goes into painting the different layers and making the markings look accurate that I must tip my hat to Superjedi for a such an amazing job well done. Thanks for sharing the stages you went through to accomplish what you have!!

REALLY REALLY beautiful man. She'll most likely be behind glass her entire life.....once I try her on of course!!!

I dont think i'd be able to troop in that very long. The JetPack is heavy enough, this bucket might kill me in a troop!!!

    Thanks very much, all.

    UPDATE: Feb 16, 2013

Nearing the finish line on this one! I've gotten the resin ears mostly complete.

The base coats and arches were painted using the same methods as the metal ear set.
Details were done with SP Lark Dk Gray and Bright Silver, and the simulated bare metal areas
were masked and sprayed with Testors buffing metalizer in stainless steel.

All that remains now is to apply the dry transfers on the RF outer ear cap and the lower section.
Then I'll be getting the whole deal ready to mail out to Scott.

Just for fun, here's the resin left ear next to the metal ear, which is mounted on the helmet.

Two ears are better than one, right? Or something like that.

    Thanks, Raf!

It's been a fun project, and this is the:

    FINAL UPDATE: Feb 17, 2013

All done! The resin ear set is now complete, and that brings this commission to 100% complete.

I did the small markings earlier today, as well as the tan spatter.
Here are the resin ears along with the completed helmet.

Thanks to everyone who has followed along with this thread. I appreciate all the comments
and discussion about colors and details. It helps to keep my skills sharp.
There are a lot of extremely talented artists on TDH who keep raising the bar on these replicas,
and even after nearly a decade on the board, I'm still seeing tiny new details, and learning new
techniques. I hope my old eyes and fingers can keep up with the new generation for a while longer!
