Superjedi's GMH as ESB for Lucksy31

Thanks very much, all. :)

UPDATE: Feb 16, 2013

Nearing the finish line on this one! I've gotten the resin ears mostly complete.

The base coats and arches were painted using the same methods as the metal ear set.
Details were done with SP Lark Dk Gray and Bright Silver, and the simulated bare metal areas
were masked and sprayed with Testors buffing metalizer in stainless steel.

All that remains now is to apply the dry transfers on the RF outer ear cap and the lower section.
Then I'll be getting the whole deal ready to mail out to Scott. :)

Just for fun, here's the resin left ear next to the metal ear, which is mounted on the helmet.

Two ears are better than one, right? Or something like that.

Thanks, Raf!

It's been a fun project, and this is the:

I did the small markings earlier today, as well as the tan spatter.
Here are the resin ears along with the completed helmet.

Thanks to everyone who has followed along with this thread. I appreciate all the comments
and discussion about colors and details. It helps to keep my skills sharp.
There are a lot of extremely talented artists on TDH who keep raising the bar on these replicas,
and even after nearly a decade on the board, I'm still seeing tiny new details, and learning new
techniques. I hope my old eyes and fingers can keep up with the new generation for a while longer!

I'm almost sad to see this end but the end result is phenomenal and it's been fun following along and watching it come to together. I can't wait to get my own helmet to this point!

Well, I can't say sad is what i'm feeling. I already have the spot on my "helmet wall" ready. And yes, she will be in the center of course!

Eric, All I can say is wow....yet again. I may be in possession of THE finest ESB helmet ever re-produced and I have you to thank for that brother. YOU are da man Eric!!

Thank you!

Haha! Well if *you* were sad, then there'd be something seriously wrong with you! Even if I had the skill to do commissions, it sure would be tough to send them away.

How'd you handle mounting the mojo right ear? Did you cut a large hole for the big brass screw? And what about the tiny screws for the cap?

For the upper ear parts I did make a hole large enough in the center part so the big hex screw/bolt
could be installed from the inside. I basically joined the center hole with the slot for the wiring so
that it became a sort of wedge shaped opening. I made it large enough so there was room to turn
the bolt from the inside.
For those 2 really small screws, there were locating marks molded into the GMH and I just drilled them
out a tad larger than the heads of the screws. That way once the inner ear cap was secured to
the helmet, I could put those 2 small screws in from the inside.

KBRosseau has a good example of this with pics in this thread:

Look at post #41. (y)

Eric- its been said many time already but I say it again, as it deserves all the credit in the world.
