I use enough epoxy so that the screw heads are completely coated, but
I don't necessarily get it so it's level with the surface.

I have had the epoxy dry so that it comes slightly above the surface (not on
purpose) and it's generally not a problem because the holes in the sides of the
    helmet are a little larger.

    Thanks, guys!

    FINAL UPDATE: November 13, 2013

The helmet is complete. This project ran 56 days, and it was a whole lot of fun!
Here's a final selection of pics.

Thanks Mathias for trusting your GMH to me!
This will be the first Superjedi helmet to leave North America, and it will begin its
journey to its new home on Friday.

Thanks also to everyone who was following along with the paint up.

    Woohoo! What a beauty!

And big thanks to you Eric! You have been absolutely wonderful to do business with. If anyone is on the fence, I can do nothing but say, go for it!

    Looks fantastic (as always)!

Do you have the ears mounted a little lower than normal? They look like they're hanging off the lid, just a bit. I don't see this in any of your other GMH paintups.

    Great, great job!

    Thanks very much gentlemen.

Rubio, good eye! Yes, the ears do descend just below the bottom of the helmet. I'm not
sure exactly why this is. I haven't seen it before either but the overhang is very slight.

I don't mind the overhang at all. It adds to the asymmetric hand sculpted look, of which they are, and should look.

Yuck. I mean, who seriously allows this sort of shoddy paintwork... ;-)

In all seriousness Eric, just another superb job. I said it last time, but in my mind, you have fine tuned your technique, to the point that you are simply one of the finest painters on this board. Fantastic my friend, and no doubt Mathias will be salivating at the thought of receiving that bad boy! :-)

Wow, thanks guys! Appreciate the kind words.

The helmet is away on its trip to Europe! Just got back from the post office
    a little while ago.

I just received the helmet this afternoon and have put it on my shelf for display. I keep it on some of the cloth that it was wrapped in during shipping (nice touch Eric!), until I get a proper helmet stand. This helmet is absolutely gorgeous!

I sure am Rafal! But fortunately, I think that as long as Eric is accepting commissions and you have a little patience, anyone can be as lucky.

Whew! Glad it got there OK, Mathias. It arrived pretty fast!

When I ship finished helmets, I always wrap them in a layer of heavy
paper towels. That way, no foam peanuts or bubble wrap will touch
the helmet and risk getting stuck!

Yeah, only 5 days, just like the post office told you.

In my experience, transatlantic shipping is very fast considering the distance to travel.
