Superjedi's FP Budget ESB for Mynock

looking good as ever,
I think you have convinced me that the light grey bits in the silver look good, i didn't put them in my ESB but i'm going to now. :)

Thanks, gentlebeings. :)
Spacebob, those little weird gray chips are definitely there. Now, whether they were
there during filming would be extremely difficult to determine. But they add another
layer of character to the helmet, so I always add them.
Same with the "grease stains" on the rear of the dome. We'd have to have some great
hi-res shots of the helmet as it was during the making of ESB to tell 100% if they were
there, but they just look right somehow.

UPDATE: August 9, 2014

Closer and closer. . .
This update shows a few small things I've done over the last day or so.
I got the lower section of the RF ear done, using my gray and silver. In the shot below
you can also make out that I've painted the space between the upper and lower halves
of the ear with the same pale gray that's scattered all around the helmet. The black
arch has also been airbrushed on. That will dry overnight and then I can do the white
half-arch, and the remaining damage.

On the rear half of the helmet, I added the grease stains. Maybe there's a leak somewhere
in Slave I's cockpit and it's dripping on Boba's helmet!

More on the opposite side.

I have also prepped the stalk for weathering and drilled/threaded a hole in the top to accept
a fastener. I have the RF topper prepped for painting, and I'll be working on the entire RF
assembly later this afternoon and tomorrow. Nearly there now!

The grease marks add a lot of depth, I like em a lot (y) I was watching ESB on blu ray earlier. I can totally see the light grey marks in there...especially the dent. I think you nailed it!

Thanks, all! The weathering stages are fun. :)

. . . I was watching ESB on blu ray earlier. I can totally see the light grey marks in there...especially the dent. I think you nailed it!

You know, I've owned the OT on Blu-ray for I dunno how long, and I've only ever watched Star Wars!
I'll have to throw the ESB disc in and check out the Boba scenes.

I'll get around to it. :)

UPDATE: August 10, 2014

Lots of work done today, although only one picture for tonight.
I completed the upper RF ear, including the white arch, the gray and silver damage, and the
application of the small markings. These are done with dry transfer letters, chipped appropriately.

I have also completed weathering the stalk and RF topper and have secured them together. Mynock is
going to install an RF light set, so I won't be attaching the clear block to the RF. He will do that once he
receives the helmet.

I've also done the pastel weathering and applied a clear coat. Mynock also asked me to paint the helmet
interior black (which I normally do not do), and I chose an oil based enamel flat black for durability. It's
currently drying.

After the interior black is dry, I'll work on the final "spatter" over the front of the helmet and work on fitting
the visor. After that, it's all done. :)

I won't be posting any more pics until the final set on completion. I've got my fingers crossed that I can have
it all done by Wednesday!

Thanks, guys! :)
Here's the. . .

FINAL UPDATE: August 13, 2014

After 44 days, Mynock's helmet is complete. Well, apart from securing the clear block to the RF.
But it's friction fit for this group of final photos. Every helmet I paint is challenging, and it's very
satisfying to put the "head shots" up at the end of each thread! So on to the pics.

We'll begin with a couple of angles of the front.

Now for the back.

I normally don't post close-ups. I like for the helmet's owner to discover small details that
don't always photograph well. But in this case, I'll throw Mynock a teaser of the dent.

Thanks to everyone who followed along with this build, and thanks especially to Mynock for
entrusting this helmet to me! It will be with you shortly! (y)

If you haven't seen my post in the Sarlacc Pit, I recently put up a page for my Fett stuff on
Facebook. It's called CounterFett Creations, and you can see it here:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/CounterFett-Creations/1454779188105078?ref=hl
I'll post a more complete photo gallery over there if anyone's interested.

Until next time!
Eric

Eric, this lid is nigh on flawless buddy! Just another incredible, jaw-dropping piece. Liked the Facebook page too mate, super work all round! :)

Outstanding as ever Superjedi, Mynock is one going to be one happy bunny indeed.

Can't believe that you have the bluray and haven't watched Empire.....
Empire is the reason I bought a projector and i watch it every couple of months (it still gets better every time i see it).

Watch it right now, in fact watch all three and watch the ewok bits twice as punishment.:)

Thanks very much, gents. :)
The helmet is being packed up in a few more hours to be sent out to Mynock.

Is it weird that I tend to get a little sad to see one of these go out the door?
Maybe I'll just keep it instead!

Kidding, Mynock. . . please don't disintegrate me!
