I recently took a break from working on my ESB GMH paint up in order to get this helmet painted.
I was able to pick up both versions of Skygunbro's McQuarrie Concept Fetts, V1 & V2(Hopefully V3 comes to fruition.)and decided to have some fun and paint the V2.
If you've ever had the opportunity to own or see Jason's helmets, they are super cool!
The sculpts are great and the fiberglass is really solid.
Now this kit started kind of rough, the helmet required a little TLC in order to get it paint ready, but nothing out of the ordinary. I took complete artistic license in the paint up. I know according to McQuarrie's drawings, the paint scheme is fairly simple. I wanted to give it some life without taking away from the simplicity and character of the helmet itself, so I decided on a damage pattern that I thought was cool, without going overboard. Kind of like the PP1 of the Concept fett world.
I primed the helmet in Floquil primer, with a base coat of Floquil Bright Silver.
Damage layer consists of SP Lark Dark Gray, and a top coat of Model Master Classic white Mixed with a good amount of thinner to give it a glossy sheen. Damage areas were misted with a very thin mixture of Floquil Weathered Black, Floquil Up Armor Yellow, and Testors Flat Brown enamel. not sure of the exact ratio as I mixed it on the fly. it was about 4:1 thinner to paint.
Black details on the back panels and RF are Floquil Weathered Black.
Let me know what you guys think!!
