SGB McQuarrie Concept Helmet (WIP/paint up)

I'm by no means an expert on this, but maybe you can make an imprint of the visor area on soft putty, maybe even child's putty, whatever it's called, then fill it with anything that hardens to make a positive, kind of like a mold. Then you can trace the paper on the positive form. I hope it makes sense.

excellent looking helmet btw

I have been waiting like a puppy for dad to come home for mine to show up in the mail from SGB. Thanks for the tip on using clay or Play-Doh to help template the visor, should save some time and mis-cutting when I do mine. Also I have some scrap plastic 3 ring binders laying around, so I will cut a prototype visor out of one of those first and check fit prior to cutting the final one out of the Hobart shield I ordered off of amazon.

Finally made/installed the visor! Much better to do so from the rear, while developing the template from the front. Took a sheet of white printer paper layed over the front and a colored pencil to get the shape down. Used one of the face shields that Darth mentioned before and traced it on. Adjustments from there were from a file and scissors to meet the dimensions, but overall only small adjustments for the fit!

Going to be reworking parts of the stalk next to show potential movement over the visor. Have a vision, just need to see it through!

After that....Get ready for McQuarrie V2 and ROTJ paint ups simultaneously!

All,

Bear with me as I figure out the best way to do the stalk. Can't wait to show this (in my most creative way) against the rest of the buckets when completed. Thank you for your patience and views!
