Scratchbuilt v 2.0

Hey man, some awesome work you got there. Listen I'm working on a scratch build of my own, and I happened to have a Rawlings batting helmet laying around. Can you tell me what size the helmet you used is? Mine is a size Large according to the sticker on the back, and I'm wondering if you noticed what size yours was. Thing is, I've been comparing the Rawlings to my DP 95 and, while the Rawlings helmet is definately taller, it's a bit less wide. I don't think it should be a problem, though, because when I cut the top off I should be able to stretch the width a bit. But I'm just asking you what size you used to make sure that I'm not going at this with a helmet that's too small. Thank you!

Also, man, I LOVE that paint job. GREAT work! (y)

PS - I read a post somewhere where you mentioned cutting the helmet's top off with shears. What do you mean by "shears?" The only thing that comes to my mind are garden shears, and it's hard for me to see you cutting a batting helmet with those. Can you give me a link to what you used, please?

Thanks SledFang.
The helmet I used was a Large. In retrospect I would have done exactly what you suggested by widening the helmet before lower construction. I think it would have come out nicer and it would be very easy to do. I would probably use an XL too. I'm about 5'11" and 170, and the bucket is just a little to small width wise. When I was building it I thought it to be too big because I have alot of room on the inside and I mean alot! I saw another members helm (Webchief) at a local event and was shocked at the size differential. Boba is a bobblehead after all!:D I used standard wire cutting shears for the cut work on the Batting Helmet........they look like this. Cut it like butter. Good luck and post the pics when you're done!!

Alright then, thanks. If there really was that much of a size difference with yours and other peoples' though, then I may go on ahead and try to find an XL to play around with, like you said. I would probably need to widen it too though, but I don't think that will be a hassle. And thanks for the picture, I know what you're talking about now, and I believe my mom has about 3 pairs of those (I'll have to find the new one that's sharp). I'll make a new topic for my progress once I get started. Thanks!
:cheers

I need to build some earpeices and the whole rangefinder too, so I'd love some details from your build. Did you make the stalk too?

AMAZING job btw...I need to get some skills:D
