OH wow man I hate to see when this stuff happens!!! I have had it happen myself with a commission I was working on it is the worst feeling in the world and when it happened it was like it was in slow motion. I feel for you bro, I would go with the 2prt epoxy as well sand it all down and repaint I might even add some more fiberglass to the areas where it snapped. crazy how the resin pulled away like that.

That sux, but can be fixed, Ive fixed one kinda similar. And ROTJ is more complicated than some may think maybe not 3 layers of paint but its still more than silver and a layer of paint on top....take a look at ref pics there is ALOT going on that thing.

I'll give you that. I haven't given most of the Jedi pieces a good look. The weathering going on in Empire is quite enough to make my head spin for now. :wacko

I agree with the two part epoxy... maybe the the Loctite "gel" type so its not so runny. Tape up the areas close to the seams so that you don't get glue on them. If you get glue on the tape, you just peel the tape off.

I would also try to carefully remove that fiberglass backing... not all just enough so you could lay down a little more after the seam dries. Be sure to sandpaper the back of the broken pieces so that when you recoat with resin and fiberglass it will have something to stick to.

I would also cover up the the dome and the back and the sides... maybe you could just get away with repainting the mandibles/ cheeks area... as long as you can match up the green of the cheeks to the dome.

I hope this helps a bit!

A sad day indeed, Im still in the process of painting mine, and fear droping it knowing how fragile it really is. Best of luck with the repair, I fully agree with the epoxy/ sanding and repaint, with the fiberglass backing. Keep us updated on the repair, and good luck again.

Thanks a bunch everyone. You all are awesome. I having gotten over the mad stage of things and moved onto the grieving process. I am going to start to glue it tonight and take my time. I will post pictures. The thing that really really sux is that I just had Jeremy Bulloch sign it two weeks before.

Honestly Id do a full repaint on it the upper cheek color is to dark of a color should be a blue-ish color...maybe lighting i dont know. But I would repaint the whole thing. Or at least the red area down...

If the signature is not damaged maybe you could clearcoat it... and then tape over it so it doesn't get ruined in a repaint.

It's a horrible thing to see this. :( I would recommend building it back up with bondo, but the epoxy will work just as well I suppose. A repaint is definitely a good idea as well, just mask the signature. :) Hope you get your helmet back to 110% bruv!!!

Well. I decided not to go ahead and bondo the seams. I think it turned out pretty good. As everyone said the cheeks are a little dark but I decided not to redo them at this time. I am getting a new bucket in the future so after I repaint that one I will "retire" this one. Thanks for everyones support, encouragement, and ideas. Again I think it look pretty good. Hey, it's "natural" weathering!

You did super job fixing it up! Good for you. :) After it's retirement the helmet will be a great display piece.

Cheers,
