Nice work webchief. I'm digging the lighted RF. One of these days I hope to be a good enough craftsman to pull one of those off. I have a long way to go though.

Boba Phat - looking nice there bud. Is that your MSH?

Tyler - you said the back needs a bluish green. Have you tried the european dark green? It has a bit of a bluish tint to it. That's what I used on mine anyway.

Thanks to all who did enjoy!

Doug-Yes, my MSH is finally in the painting stages! Just 4 months of prep! I'll have to go look at the Euro DK Green, thanks for sharing!

TD-The back of the helmet was the hardest color for me to get. Sorry you don't like it, but it matches my ref CD pics and I haven't seen anyone but Slowmo share their color, so WTF!!!

Any possibility Rogue Studios or anyone else could update the "General Consensus These Are As Close To The Definitive Colors We May Ever Get" list?
It's shopping time this weekend.

Thanks!

The green is the only color for sure ID'd so put it in concrete.

I feel I have them all found but I want to be sure. Some folks are looking through the paints and available colors from floquil and Polly S and some have looked pretty good. It's just tough telling the TDH the colors and people run out and buy them then I realize that I may be wrong since I do try other colors and bam they work...I have almost 75% of the colors on the paint charts but Floquil made others too and it's finding those obscure colors that may prove promising as well. But the green is good to go

OK, I have looked on color charts for all the brands that have been named here and so far Polly S is the only one that have a green called "Panzer green" is that the correct green? I thought it was called "Panzer grun-1942"??!!

Also, I can't find any of the named brands here in Sweden, Humbrol and Tamiya are the only brands availible to me. Does Humbrol carry the correct green? They don't have anything named "Panzer grun" but they do have a VERY large selection oliv greens.

So does anybody know if there's any Humbrol enamel that would do?

Steve.

I too have a problem finding the right colours..
The paint shops here in Norway have a pathetic selection of cans due to the government war against Graffiti(they think that stop selling cans in stores will stop it). There is not
many Hobby stores either so it looks like i will have to custom mix again :rolleyes

I dont know if this is ok, but I found the Testors - Panzer Olive Grun 1943 (German) color, is this a really good ESB helmet color? As well as, I found the Japanese Navy Green but only by Tamiya...is that still accurate?

BTW, im using Webchief's idea of the Fluqoil Tuscan for the mandbles, and im mixing Testors Gold and Tamyia Buff for the right earpiece!

Thanks!
Bobo

The panzer olivegrun is right on, but the japanese navy green isn't. I keep looking for a better color to repaint with, but I haven't found it yet. The back of the helmet is supposedly a blue-green. I'll post what I find when I find it.

I used Testor's Model Master Rust for my mandibles. It looks a little brown, but looks red in pics.

Hmm, thats weird, cuz Webchief's bucket looks really good with that japanese navy green! And besides, a blue-green?? Wouldn't that look strange? ;)

Anyone else think they've got the back of the helmet propely down?

I have a supply of fluqoil paints here in town, do you have a name of the specific color?

Haven't been able to single out that back color yet, but what RS is saying is to raid that Floquil line, because there is an excellent chance the correct color is sitting in the Floquil line.

And yes, Panzer Olive Grun (Green) is the 99.9 percent accurate ESB color.

Awesome! Thanks Tyler.
Just to make sure..it says Panzer Olive Grun "1943", I don't think that matters?!

Oh yeah, and Webchief used Fluqoil Tuscan for his bucket, I was wondering what you think of that color? (anyone else too!)

Anywhoo, I'll be attacking the Floquil section soon :D

If I am not mistaken, Panzer Olive Grun 1943 is the testors name for the color. Testors acquired the Floquil military line. Poly-S also makes paints from the Floquil line. In short, Testors Panzer Olive Grun 1943 and Poly S Panzer Olive green= correct Floquil color.
