ROTJ Tamiya air brush paint colours

Bobby Fett UK

Hi denters

I am gonna start getting my **** together to paint a ROTJ bucket. I would like to use tamiya paint as it screws directly onto my airbrush and my local model shop carry a huge range. So any tips here?

Thanks, Bobby.

If anyone have the list, maybe I (or we) can do a research :)

EDIT:

Using a convertion chart and this:

Posted by evan4218:

*Humbrol matt 31(main color)
*Humbrol "77 Matt Navy Blue" (Lower cheeks)
*Tamiya "TS 43 Racing green"(rear)
+
*Humbrol enamel 88 (rear) *Use this color to tone down the main green by dry brushing it on lightly.
*Cabboose Flouquil enamel (mandibles)
*Humbrol super enamel 82 (killstripes)
*The misting/weathering was done by mixing some gray enamel with Weathered black and lightly airbrushign it on.
*Discolorations were darkend and lightened Matt 31 Humbrol enamel by mixing white and or weathered black.
*Silver was Hubrol Chrome Silver enamel.

That's what I have:

*Tamiya XF-25(main color)
*Tamiya "TS 43 Racing green"(rear)
+
*??? (rear) *Use this color to tone down the main green by dry brushing it on lightly.

I'm sorry because it doesn't helps so much...

Yea that list Justin posted is the same list I used when I do ROTJ helmets. I think it started as the list Mickey used for his PP2 helmet. I might be wrong on that though.

WOW!! nice mannequin!!!! How did you come across one that is so articulate!?!?!

I need to get myself one :D

Tamiya should have a colour chart on their site, should be able to eyeball
the required colours from that, failing that most model/hobby shops should
have a colour chart in their shops near the paint section (y)

tjd, you gotta remove that pm restriction ........
also i got the mannequin on ebay from Australia, it seems that all it was is a threaded bolt with 2 locknuts, the only catch is , that is has been screwed in the arms making it more solid, i am sure you could cut it up and do something similar alternatively , i could find out if they sell the arms but probably not worth the shipping , it cost me $170 aussie bucks which at the moment is like $110 US .
it is on ebay.com.au
good luck

Hi Bobby Fett UK,
I've painted my ESB helmet, using only Tamiya paint and a airbrush, and it's been a real pleasure to do it ! You can seen the result here : http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=26420

I highly recommend using alcohol instead of water, it mixes the paint better. Maybe you are not used to airbrushing, so don't forget to do some paint test on a piece of cardboard, just to make sure you have a correct mix of Air/Paint, and the right color too (y).

Good luck! :cheers

Can someone help a BF noob here?

I am buying a Master Replica Helmet on EBay and it appears as if all MR buckets are painted in ESB style. Is this true? I guess I should buy the reference CD, but thought someone could point me to a side by side comparison of ESB and ROTJ Fett buckets.

My armor (under construction) is ROTJ if anyone was wondering why the dilemma.

Regards,

might be a bit late mate but yes and no

MR with paint jobs are a weird mix of ESB and preproV2 if i recall correctly.

ROTJ armour + ESB lid can be used in a ROTJ SE Fett

although if hopin to troop with a 501 grp - might want to check that the MR on its own qualifies as it not pure (although pretty darn close to) ESB.
