ROTJ Helmet colors and tips

So in preparation for the arrival of my MS3 I've decided that I should practice painting a helmet before the main event. I will be practicing on my DP '95 White Interior. After I receive and paint my MS3 you'll see the DP 95 in the cargo hold, probably along with my DP 96.

Now then, I've seen Steve the Swede's excellent tutorial on starwarshelmets.com, however one thing is missing. What were those main colors he used? I'd like to try my best and aim for a similar looking helmet. So, my question is this... What are suitable airbrush colors for the main colors of the ROTJ helmet? I know there's nothing definitive yet, but I was hoping someone could tell me what they used and if they looked close to Steve the Swede's colors?

Steve-the-Swedes' tutorial is for painting an ESB helmet. The color list is the first thread on the Helmet page...Rogue Studios' was the detective to unlock the safe:)

His list for ROTJ spanned the armor, but not the helmet as of yet.

Lee did tell me that C&O enhancment blue is the best color for the upper cheaks of the ROTJ helmet. Floquil makes it. I have used it on several occiasions and it looks spot on.

Steve the Swede did do a ROTJ tutorial. It's on that same website, under the 'tutorials' page. I studied them both when I was deciding which helmet version to paint.

Yes one of his tutorials is for painting an ESB helmet, but I'm talking about his tutorial for painting and weathering a ROTJ helmet. :)

Are the paint parts the same Panzer olive that the esb is? The color he uses on the ROTJ looks to me to be a bit darker than his esb colors. What do you guys think?

Its good to see someone else goin for a ROTJ helmet. I've been watchin every seen in ROTJ where Boba Fett is in 1/8th speed just to catch every scratch and mark. It almost seems that the back of the helmet and the upper cheeks are the same dark shade of green while the top and lower cheeks are the same light shade. I dont know if its cuz of the lightin or the fact its the newer seens that were added in. I did notice the scene where Boushh pulls out the thermal detonator that the Rangerfinder and cape are on the wrong sides though lol 2nd mistake i found in the movie

They're only on the wrong side because that frame in the movie was flipped. Anyways nice to see another person trying to get a ROTJ helmet, I'm a bit tired of seeing all these ESB helmets around here. ;)

I just painted the all the red but when I tapped it off the tape I used left sticky stuff on the silver I painted. Does anyone know what tape I should use that wont damage the paint or leave any goo after?

Blue painter's tape works very well for masking and wont leave any sticky residue. You can find it at home depot or walmart

I would have to say that the green on the back of the helmet and the color of the upper cheak is not the same color. The back is more of a bright green color and the uppercheaks are a bluish green.

Yeah, I want to do ROTJ on my BM too. So if you can post any refferences and colors you find will be greatly appreciated.
As for now, I'm planning on the Rogue Studios' colors. I know they're for ESB. But, it should get me into the ballpark at least.

Here are some pics of a ROTJ helmet I painted using Lees colors plus the C&O enhancemnet blue that he told me to use for the upper cheaks. It is a weird color in some lights it looks blue others it looks green but I think it looks perfect to the real one. Take a look. The helmet is just so so but the color is all I am talking about. Also the last pic is of my Prepro helmet painted with the same color.

I always thought that upper cheecks are some dirtied up black. I never had the impression that it could be a shade of blue or green :confused

Just learned something new again !

For the back of my RotJ helmet I'm using ColorPlace 'Kelly Green'. I think you can get it at Wal-Mart. It's a vibrant green that doesn't end up looking neon.
