Finally back home from out of town, and got some painting done. I also got some grommets to mount the chest armor, and have it temporarily taped on my mannequin to get the armor in the right spot. I also got some weathering done on my jumpsuit...
    More to come..

20140512_173328-jpg20140503_233517-jpg Different lighting and a flash on my camera makes the jumpsuit look like two different suits, but in fact both of these are exactly the same..

So I started to work on attaching the armor to the vest. I am using the grommet method and so far it is working out pretty good..

To place the grommets, i made paper templates of the armor pieces. I tripled checked the location of each post and marked spot on the vest before punching out the grommet holes..

Looks great! I will be going this method as well. Makes me a bit nervous but triple checking is the key

Thanks bro! I was really nervous, but luckily I didn't run into too many problems.

OK so I finished mounting/painting and weathering all the front armor. I layered the silver and green paint, but hand-painted on the yellow layer.. I weathered the pieces with black and brown pastels, and then hit everything with two coats of dullcoat clear coat..I also repainting my girth belt, to a brighter red..
    20140526_141133-jpg20140526_150215-jpg
20140526_141202-jpgI also installed my Fettronics board..
20140526_164151-jpg20140526_164239-jpg finally I made an insert for the center diamond...

Looking really good man. Did you do a post on the center diamond also? I'm going to go this route on my Jango build, as they are fiberglass parts on the vest. Still unsure on the Boba, but may go there with it too. Almost seems like overkill with the small ABS parts.
Paint on the armor looks nice, hope to start on mine soon.

Yeah I used two posts for the diamond... It might be alittle overkill, but it makes me feel better that these pieces are never going anywhere! With a little patience and triple measuring, it really isn't that hard...

Also with getting all the edges, you make sure everything is nice and flush.

Great at paint job man! Envious!

    Re: Rotj Build Up

I have been slowly chipping away on things.... seems like when I get something done, 5 more things pop up to do!
Anyway.. First off, I received a few things in the mail the other day
    20140601_093203-jpg20140601_093210-jpg

Also I started working on repainting my helmet...again!

    20140604_184853-jpg20140604_184904-jpg20140604_184839-jpg
I still have to add in the physical damage! I wanted to have everything lined up before i added that in, since the helmet was a Coldcast anyway....More to come....

Thanks! The humid weather is killing my painting process though...

I had the cheeks all done, and my painters tape completely pulled off all the paint down to the silver! Anyway got the red mandible area done, and going to start again with the cheeks!

Mandibles look killer! Too bad about the cheeks. Pretty sure I would cry over a beer if that happened.

That weathering looks amazing! Well, all of it does! Chalk pastel I assume?

    Thanks Aaron!
Yeah, I wanted to blend in the esb colors on the cheek, so I mixed up a green-gray color using chalk pastels that matched pretty close. The only issue I have found is that the clear coat darkens the pastel a shade or two, unless really light coats of dullcote are used.

OKay, So i have got some more work done on the helmet, mainly dome and killstripes......
I still have to clear coat, to lock all that pastel weathering in. Then I will darken some areas up and start work on the ears.....
