    ROTJ Bucket now with Paint

A little bird wearing a multicolored jet pack just dropped this pic at my house...

And for just a little reference... Checks out dem dents!

This is the closest thing I could reference in "raw" form.

    Smells like ROTJ to me!

Re: Hey ROTJ guys, take a look at this bucket...

Happy to hear I'm not the only one that thinks this bucket looks as sweet as I thought it did! Just to throw it out there, this in not an interest thread ((as of yet). This thread is more geared to the build up and progess and I have been givin the go ahead to take you along with it. This will also include detailed pics of an ROTJ paint up as well so we can see this in its finished form. Should be pretty interesting to watch it come to life step by step. I will keep all updates to this thread so PMs won't help to much. Lets just watch this happen together before we get to far a head of ourselves. Please keep your comments coming...

Ha ha ha... NOT A CHANCE!!!! I guess I just thought we might as well help the old ROTJ guys out a bit since we now have the definitive ESB bucket out on the block. And to be honest, I got excited when I saw this because it looks so dead on. The story behind it is rather interesting as well.

WPK, is this made of fiberglass?

Also, when you post pics, would it be possible to pose it along with a couple more 'known' helmets (for size comparisons)?

I'm interested in this helmet as well...

There is really nothing about that helmet that can help us identify it as one of our known helmets. It is white for two possible reasons: It was intended to be part of the all-white preproduction suit. Or it could just be in an unfinished painted state.

OK WPK, you got us. But I only have one question, I know you are a ESB guy all the way but why on earth would you steal the ROTJ helmet and repaint it?
Seriously that is a nice helmet and I hope to hear more info on it soon.

So how about some more pics? Or updates? I'd personally like to see pics of the keyhole slots.

I supposed we'll have to establish a new 'handle' for this helmet along the lines of MSH, DP95, MHK, etc... How about the WPKFWHYTSFAPDONMWOA* ?

Ok Kids she's just about ready for paint!

In case anyone might wonder after viewing these pics the ear caps are inginuity at work. They are REAL METAL!!
(well, almost ). These are cold like metal, and feel like metal in every way. In all actuallity, they are molded
with a white urethane resin core with a thick, tough outer coating of polished "Lab Metal". I just found out that
this might possibly be another cool new feature on this new bad *** on the block!

Great lookin helmet WPK, and those ears are awesome. But I have a couple of questions.
I know that these comparison pics are hard to do because of matching the angles but these are great and in the second one the two helmets line up pretty good but here is what I spotted

The yellow line is the ear on the new helmet the green line is the ear on the movie helmet. They both appear to be in the same location relative to the area around them but they do not line up, is this the angle or is it because of the area in blue which appears to be larger than the movie helmet.
Is this area conceled by the where the two paint colors meet or is it again the angle of the pictures and if its the angle how does everything else line up?

One last thing is, will this type of ear be made available to people with other types of helmets?

Happy to hear all the great response to this! As far as this bucket is concerned I think we are just about
there. The dome still needs some final touches but we're not to far off...

These overlays do not really prove a whole lot. They were just done to show overall proportion reference. As
said, its extremely difficult to match camera angles and so fourth. The input from TKfett is exactly correct
within the overlay shot but the areas that were shown have everything to do with the angles and paint
    concealing...

Here is a cool size reference for the ROTJ bucket. This is matched up to a screen accurate trooper helmet. Although
its not booted up against another known fett bucket yet, I think this shows a lot. Look at the pics... if it's
the same size as the real deal, does it really matter anyway??

However, comparison pics will be coming next to my MSH, MSH2, DLX and MH.

    Hi there WPK

What bucket is that by the way, it looks amazingly close to the movie prop, I am looking for one myself and yours is by far the most accurate i've seen. Appreciate any help you can offer

Ok boys and girls... I really can't see it getting much better than this. Although "almost" ready for paint,
the maker decided to start applying all of the signiture scratches and gouges found on the original.
this should be INTERESTING to say the least

Below are the REVISED COMP PICS. It's late, and I'm running down, so I'll probably revise this in the
morning, but here's something to tide you over...

Sometime this week, we'll get some size reference up.

    Onto the pics...

Oh and BTW, since I thought this was kinda interesting I had a pic taken of the range finder earcap removed.
    Looks kinda familiar.

WPK, would this helmet ever be offered in a non-scarred version? If not, I've lost my interest.

ROTJ is supposed to be scared, if you don't want the scars just fill them with spot glazeing putty like you would any other defect, it is no big deal and nothing to really worry about losing interest over.

    Looking AWESOME BUD!!!!

Not trying to be ugly, but what were you planning to do with this helmet? I mean, if you are going for RotJ, this IS the way you want to go.

Also,FYI the MSH2 has a few "scars and nicks" on it that are supposed to be there as well.

    Lynn, BB and others...

Sorry for offending up-standing ROTJers with my remarks. I guess my point is, I've already Bondo-ed up the scars on a couple fiberglass helmets, and it was not a great experience. When I decided to strip said helmets and re-paint, the Bondo came off with the paint, and I was forced to do the entire procedure over again. Live and learn...

So...it IS a great helmet, and yes, I understand the scratches are supposed to be there; I'm not an idiot, I've seen the pics. I just prefer to do the weathering myself, and was simply asking if the helmet was going to be offered sans scratches. I'm guessing not, and will move on.

Nah, it's just a beautiful helmet...and even though it's 'accurate', it's just a shame to see it all scarred up like that.

If it were up to me, I'd personally love to have a pristine, un-scarred MSH2, with an un-warped visor squint, WITH the dent. Not accurate, but a guy can dream, yes?

    **sigh**
