Rogue Studios' ESB Color list & Painting Techniques

It looks close to me. Here are my gauntlets in natural sunlight, painted with Polly Scale Wisconsin Central Maroon......

After recently painting my gauntlets I am really having a hard time thinking that Wisconson Central Maroon is the correct color. It seems really too dark and almost too brownish as opposed to redish to be correct. I've looked at it in all different kinds of lighting conditions and it always just seems too dark. Anyone have any suggestions to the contrary?

It also depends on the material your painting on. My MOW fg gauntlets came out darker than my ruffkin vac formed. Once the WCM and the black misting is applied , you should have an almost purplish hue.

The real gauntlets are very dark

Yeah my gauntlets are MoW. I'm thinking about going back over them with a light mist of Rockisland Maroon or possibly Boxcar Red.

I know the colors listed for the gauntlets is for a "AoSW" but in the MoM Re pics there is definatly more of a redish hue to them I know it may be resultant of the flash but that means when I take a picture of my gunts with a flash something similar should happen, which it doesnt.

Stear clear of boxcar at all costs! Both the acrylic and the enamel versions have gone purple in the formula. You want to mist it with Caboose if your trying to get a lighter red tone.

Hmm. . . from different threads I've read, it would seem the Boxcar Red varies quite a bit from batch to batch.
I've picked it up pretty recently in both a 1 oz. bottle (acrylic) and even a spray can (enamel), and it just appears to be the same dull red-brown as always.

Just make sure you folks keep reading the list for updates I changed it to Caboose a while back boxcar was most probably used on the ROTJ bucket since those and a few others were painted separately from the ESB.

You´re right! But it´s god for changing if you can´t get a special colour.
For example: you can´t get FS34102. So you can use Xtracolor x116, Polly S 500815, Gunze Sangyo H310, Model Master 1713 or Humbrol 117.

Forgive me if this was addressed earlier in this thread... I'm seeing a clear difference in hue between the red on the left ear and the red on the mandibles, but both are listed as Caboose. Am I imagining this? Do the experienced painters here mix something custom for the left ear red?

Hi, This post of mine is very knowledgable and may enhance the information of the viewers , however I would like some specific information for myself. If someone can help me then please send me a private message. Best Regards,

Hi there. Can someone in the U.S. help me obtain the model master paints? These are not avaliable in Europe. I need every color for esb helmet and the rest of the armour and jp and gauntlets should be rotj. So the SE rotj edition if you like.

Thanks in advance.

Awesome thread!

Thanks to everyone who made these final colors possible.

So my question is.....

Are all the colors talked about in this whole thread back on the main front page? I'm getting ready to paint my ESB helmet this spring and would like to make sure that I buy all the correct colors.

Much appreciate.

Arturo
