Sure thing

Awesome! (y)

See how easy it is to work with evan4218! :)

You know.... it's hard to believe that is my helmet. It sat on my work bench for so long with no progress. It looks to be in good hands!

Here are a few more mods I am adding to the list after talking with Ripcode.

1. The brow on the mandables needs to be a bit more rounded... see pic.

2. The left ear is a bit raised from the helmet. See highlighted red area on pic.

Great attention to detail Justin....(y)

Just an FYI, I noticed that all of these mods seem to be already on the MSH2....(which I have:eek: );) ...

Again good Eye on the raised ear. That also helps on the flare that everyone talks about...

Thats right, wave your MSH2 at me... you tease!!!

Well, I tried a few things for building up the "ramp" on the top of the keyholes to make it more screen accurate. What I have that looks to work (but sadly not with out glue that I ran out of) is I bilt up strips of different sized abs of a very thin gage. This allowed me to make a rap of specific size and depth. Once glued in properly (and I made the mistake of thiking bondo would hold it in correctly) I can add bondo over it to fill any seams and tweek any further shape. I will post pics tomarrow showing the seperate peice, and then the peice added, bondoed and primed. I will also be using htis on the left ear to add that tilt.

I have tweaked the right side with bondo to finish the illusion of the flawless raised area. I have also drilled piolet holes for the screw system I am using to attache all the ear peices. I belive this to be how the origonal peices were done.

I have allso worked at rounding the brow line.

All this wihle tending to a baby and having a sinus and upper respitory infection. Pro me! :) LOL

Well, I am aiming for perfection on these last mods and I dont want to post another pic till htose are done and the darn thing is chromed and ready for masking. Hopefully that will be in the next day or two. :)

Hold tight there rip... This is a tough bucket... just think, if it were an MS3 I would be painting by now. LOL ;)

True! But at the time I bought the MS1, there was no MS3.

Correct-amundo!

;)

Thats always the way isnt it. LOL You buy a helmet and a better version is offered by the same artisan, FP is proving this to be so true right now.

Allrighty,
Here is a REAL update. I have finished my mods and started to lay down my base coat colors. I decieded to do a reverse masking similar to what fettfullof$$ uses on some of his buckets. This will give me the control I want and allow me to keep a good pace at painting it without a lot of touch up.

I bought a brand new airbrush to help me on this job. Normaly I just use my trusty Iwata Revolution.... but I got me a Bager 155 Anthem to help me out. This was recomended to me becase of its design. I find its better for large coverage where my Iwata is good for small details. I found I was too use to the Iwata, thus the touch up spot on the mandable where I sanded it down to the primer and started to repaint.

I am using all enamels this time around. My base red may seem a bit brite but I asure you, once I mist it with boxcar red and add my wash... it will be dead on. The flash makes the mandable red and the triangle red look the same, when in fact they are many shades apart. They have the same base color though.

You can see all the mods are done, including the desending ramp for the left ear and the ramp on the back aboce the keyholes. I dont know how easy it is to see that detail in these pics due to the green paint and the reflection of the flash, but its there!

I bought 2 types of enamel silver. One that is more of a darker gunmetal to lay down as my base in some spots and mist with the lighter silver to give some of the veriation effects.

This helmet has been alot of fun to work on, and the enamels have been easyer then you would think... no tape pull up folks... not any!

This is partly due to a good primer. I reprimed it before painting with Tamiya Fine surface primer. This is the bomb people. Helps your colors pop too!!!

I will list my colors when I am done and tell you where you can buy them online. But for now... I sleep... and... err... work on my 50 million other projects... and eventualy my own helmet.

Stay tuned, the next update will be with all the silver on it! :)
