Rangefinder Interest: now with correct Perspex Lens Block...

Well, I have gone down the resin casting route before. The issue was making the casting thin enough to house many of the LED top mounted units people have been using. The beauty of the 0.8 mm alloy top is that maximum space can be achieved internally, where the Perspex lens block locates in the top section, this is thickened with plastic card to give the appearance it is approximately 2 mm thick. The alloy also gives more options for different stalk mounting options.

Right, makes sense , either way your RFs are great, and good to see the revival and work that goes in to perspex block ,

And I love how you high-end guys work together to make accurate parts that are compatible, it truly makes a community for an accurate reproduction costume that is top notch!

I will be working on a new master for the RF top section shortly. This will be designed around Mojo-Fett's stalk fixing points. I'm currently making a few prototypes to experiment with magnet fixing options for the lens block/RF top section. Pictures to follow shortly...(y)

Would we be able to get one without any holes drilled so I could drill it to my fixing points?

Hi Guys, sorry for the slow progress, work is always getting in the way...:facepalm
This is prototype 1. The RF body is constructed from 2 mm plastic card. The section not surrounding the lens (excluding the top part where the LEDs protrude) is 4 mm thick, this will strengthen the part when cast, reinforcing the stalk connection as well. All the lens sections will be hand crafted, i'm working on a reliable way to drill the three holes rather than machining them across the bottom of the piece. The lens sections will be available in all the different styles as seen on the helmets. The RF will also be scaled to work with Mojo-Fetts stalk. I intend to produce a couple of other prototypes with alternative stalk/RF attachment methods...(y)

This RF top is designed around the original helmet, so electronics in the helmet and wires running up the hollow stalk to the LEDs in the RF top. Fitting the electronics, LEDs and batteries in the RF top was always a bit of a squeeze!
