Rangefinder circuits, official sign up thread

Due to the interest, I am going to do a run. I received a lot of interest via thread replies and PM, way too much to get everyone in the first run. Don't fret if you don't get in the first run, I will follow it up with more and hopefully get everyone covered who wants one. I do need to order parts, so I want to do runs of 10.

I will offer 2 versions-

Self contained unit- Contains onboard battery source, drop in and go-
$52 shipped in continental US
$55 shipped to Canada
$60 shipped to rest of the world

External 9V unit- comes with wires you run down your hollow stalk, you supply and wire an external 9V battery-
$40 shipped in continental US
$43 shipped to Canada
$48 shipped to rest of the world


Some pics and video. The circuit turns on automatically when your rangefinder is down, and turns off when it is up. Measurements are about 1 1/8in by 1 1/8in. I am not sure all of what make toppers it will fit. I do know it will fit the hollow DP toppers. After some discussion with FP, they should fit his newer toppers. His older ones need some modification.

Please indicate which version board you want. I will PM payment info to the first 10 to sign up. I don't want to take payment beyond the first run until it is complete. I have had interest for Jango style boards. I admit that I am unfamilar with what the difference would be. If it is just blue LED's instead of red, it shouldn't be a problem. I could do these in the next run, as I would need to order the parts.

The first run is under way. I have started production last night Payment information has been sent to everyone on run 1. I must stress again, please let me know ASAP if you are dropping out or want to be moved to a later run. It makes a difference on the versions I build, and allows someone else to move up. It will take me a few weeks to get the first run done, I will then contact the next run with payment info, and repeat the process. Board measurements are up now- about 1 1/8 inch square. I found a way to cut out just a little more and may get them down to about an inch square, maybe a little less. For the time being, use 1 1/8 to make sure they will fit in your topper. Thanks

I'm getting none, since Jango's lights are non functional. If you do want to add LED's to Jango, then you should get blue.

Yeah, I realize I never saw lights on his RF. I'm alright for getting away from that little bit of accuracy. What lights should be blue you think Fox, all three? I guess I have to think about making a hollow RF top to fit my BKBT RF arm.

I don't know what is accurate for Jango. Right now, the Jango's are requesting blue LED's instead of red. Will be checking with my supplier to see about getting blue LED's.

Here is a teaser pic. Starting to crank these out now. Should have everyone done this weekend who has paid so far Oh and thats a piece of cardboard in the self contained units. Its just a insulator to keep the battery off while in transit. You need to remove it prior to installation, hold the batteries in place while you pull it out, or the top battery pops out with it

The LEDs look like they are clear. Are you using clear leds that light up red? I kind of liked the solid red leds, but either one is okay.

They are actually a pinkish color, but light up red. They are the new superbright LED's I am using, and are a bit brighter than the old. I do have a couple boards left with the older style red LED's left. I can fill you order with one of them if you prefer.

Put me down for an all blue self contained unit that I will try out on my Jango. I'll be making and casting up some hollow RF's to match my BKBT helmet unless I see some already existing RF's that will work with it.

Edit: If the blue ones are a pain to do, I'll stick with what you got going here with the Boba style and adjust what I have to, just so I don't end up any further down the list.

I wanted to use one of these in a Bobamaker Deluxe Rangerfinder. The topper has holes for the red LED's, but does not have a window for the clear LED. Anyone know if I can just clip the clear LED without messing up the circuit?

You may want to check to make sure it will fit the BM deluxe. If so, I can always provide your board without the 3rd LED. Or just cutting it off would be fine as well, won't hurt anything.

You may want to check to make sure it will fit the BM deluxe. If so, I can always provide your board without the 3rd LED. Or just cutting it off would be fine as well, won't hurt anything.

on mine (when you get down to run #70, or wherever i am), i'll be doing rotj, so i don't even have the little screen there to illuminate. might as well leave that led off entirely.

Arrgg...little bad news. The tilt switches I got in this purchase are just not working. The original switches I had a couple years ago, worked fantastic ut went discontinued. It took me awhile but I found a good sub. The last batch I ordered, I got a couple bad ones. It seems like a tolerance issue or possibly a design change, not sure. This time around I ordered a few extra, anticipating a few bad apples. This time I only got 2 that worked correctly. The good news is that I should have enough to cover those who have paid so far. I work like to have everyone else hold off payment for the moment until I can contact my vendor on Monday and see what is going on with these. This is the main component, and I need to make sure I can deliver. Thanks in advance, hopefully this will only be a short delay.

Got the new shipment of switches last night. They seem to be working good, so we are a go again Whew, I got loaded with more interests while dealing with the switch issue.
