range finder help

Pancho

New Hunter
I've never done this before and I'm just getting started on building a costume. I got a nice cast helmet kit a while back and finally decided to jump in. I broke out the kit and realized that it didn't come with a rangefinder stalk. I would like to add in a remote motor and lights and really have zero idea as to where to start or what I need. any help or just a point in the right direction would be much appreciated. thanks!

Check the cargo hold for range finder kits and servos. People sell some pretty good setups. There is also a section that show you how to build your own. Hope that helps a bit.

Try ASOK for a solid aluminum rangefinder stalk or Mojo Fett has some Hollow aluminum stalks right now on eBay for whichever way you wire the LEDs. I'd recommend Salamanderking for a LED kit wired or wireless, your choice. There are some remote motor kits in the Cargo Hold right now. If your going for screen accuracy the movie helmets had a hollow aluminum stalk with wired LEDs. If you end up buying a new rangefinder then I'd definitely recommend messaging terminal fettler for his quality toppers.

I recommend ASOK for the stalk he was great to deal with and Salamanderkings new RF servo setup sounds amazing!! I have an older one of his and it works great!!

Thanks for the tips on where to go. I guess because my account is so new, I can't post to the Cargo Hold yet. I did get some helpful PM's from other members selling stuff and I appreciate it but the thing is, it seems like there are lots of options and approaches to this and I don't know what the best way to go will be yet. I know I want wireless motion and lights in the range finder. I hope to to this do it your self style as much as possilbe. I saw the tutorial on the zip zap rc car mod for the motion motor and think I'll go this way. Just need to learn how to set it up with lights that switch on afterh the rangefinder is down. my kit came with a range finder top but I belive it's a solid piece. not sure if I can ad a light set up to it without sever modding, cutting and drilling.
