Question from a new member about the nature of this forum

New Hunter
Hello All,

I'm a new member here on the Dented Helmet and I'm posting to ask a question: do I need to be customizing my own gear in order to be considered a contributing member to this site? I am not a craftsman. I am a dedicated student and I don't feel like I'm in a place in my life where I can begin learning to detail and paint helmets. However, I have ALWAYS wanted a Boba Fett helmet. Since AOTC came out, I have also wanted a Jango Fett helmet. Like many of you probably felt when you first got involved with replicas, one condition of my desire for a Fett helmet is that I don't want it to look like a joke. I have been lurking the photos on this forum and the work y'all do is incredible.

Anyway, to be frank, my interest in this forum revolves around the Cargo Hold at this time. I want to finally nut up and buy a legit Fett helmet.

This is an honest account of my intentions. If I am not the type of fan who belongs on The Dented Helmet, please respond and let me know. If a more-casual-than-average fan is welcome, however, I will continue to post.

Sincerely,

theViper93

Welcome dude,I've bought every part of my fett ready to wear, not good and making things my self would rather pay someone to make it right....lol :)

I'm new here as well and I am paying someone who knows what they are doing for my Fett suit. The Fett suit is a lot of work (and potentially money), there are a lot of experts and fine craftsmen here who spent lots of hours getting details very accurate, I have no issue paying them for their services if they are willing to provide them. You can also go the other way if you are more ambitious and try to do it yourself. This community is great for both.

Only advice I would offer you is to really study Fett first then start buying parts. I spent a ton of my wife's money picking up items from the cargo hold that I didn't even need once I decided on what version Fett I was going to build. So pick the version you want to build then start picking up parts.

No matter your experience level or your budget, Everyone that enjoys Boba Fett is welcome here

I always felt that this board was for everyone and that pretty much every type of fan was welcome regardless of the end goal so long as it was Boba, Jango or Bounty Hunter centric and regardless of whether you are planning for Old Hallows Eve or going high end accuracy mentalness. I know I've been made to feel very welcome and been introduced to some lovely people since I have been here. In my experience people have been helpful and informative.

Welcome to TDH by the way.

Live the dream.

Welcome! The members here have different motivations for joining TDH: research, learning about the
hobby in general, improving their painting/sculpting/building/sewing/etc. skills, showing off their work,
but most of all, simply sharing an interest in the Fett man! Plus the other bounty hunters, too. :)

There are plenty of threads to read through, including a couple describing the potential cost of putting
together a great looking Fett costume. Take your time and browse around. After being a member of
several online SW communities for many years (some over a decade) I've seen that TDH has the best
bunch of scoundrels on the internet! Enjoy.

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies and welcoming words. I can tell that you're all sincere when you say that this is an inclusive community. I guess that's a result of each of us sharing a common interest, namely the masked enigma who chases our imaginations in circles...

Thanks again to all of you!

Hi there and welcome to the boards. Syper summed it up...if you're a fan of the Fett, you're in the right place and welcome here. If you're looking to get a legit and ACCURATE Fett helmet (without building your own), I'd say go with a Fettpride helmet.

On the general nature of this board : I can tell you i am a member of plenty of message boards on the net, but this right here has the friendliest crew around. There is an amazing search function and gallery section, but if you still can't quite find what you are after, there are a number of kind hearted folk happy to point you in the right direction. As a community, it constantly boggles my mind how a similar passion brings so many great people to this board on a daily basis. Peace :)
