Pristine Boba Fett

Has anyone ever played with the idea of painting up a Boba Fett Helmet, although undamaged? Maybe using a dentless helmet kit, or with the dent, just without all the dings and scratches and worn away paint layering?

Was looking through some of the gallery photos and the thought popped into my head, hope this is an okay forum for this post!

Supertrooper! Haha, that's about the closest.

It's a cool idea, but think about Boba's helmet pristine.

BORING

That literally takes just about all of the fun out of being Boba including the super iconic dent.

If you painted up a kit without the recognizable damage you would basically end up with a Journeyman Protector kit, much like was shown in the comics. Boba Fett's paint scheme is pretty much just like the other JPs but he has the iconic battle damage.

If you look up Fenn Shysa you will see what I mean.

Would be a cool costume if done with nice parts though. Obviously his armor/suit had to be kinda new at one time.....

When BM posted some pics of my unweathered V3 armour on Facebook, there were a few negative comments. I think only one comment was a question like "perhaps a version seen in the graphic novels"

The cost of weathering would have tipped my order over the AUD$1k mark and I just couldn't afford to pay GST (Goods and Services Tax) on top of the order.

I have always believed the Boba Fett character had assembled/replaced his armour over time, through various means and sources, so some parts may appear more worn than others.

Having said that, done right - like the Holiday Special

(BTW, apologies for not knowing who this costume belongs to)

Sure, the idea has been discussed before. I know I kicked the idea around several
years ago with another member (can't remember who).

I think it would look. . . sterile somehow.

One idea I've thought would be interesting is to take an undented helmet kit and
paint it up as Jango on the left side, and Boba on the right side. But maybe I'm crazy.

One of the big differences between star wars and it's contemporary science fiction was that star wars was dirty, battered and "lived in". It gave the story a more realistic feel than the polished sci-fi that had come before. Making a clean Fett is like taking star wars out of him.

@ locitus....I would have to envision a cleaner, newer Fett, but there would have to at least be some chips and scratches. Plenty of road grime as well. As others above, if it were too pristine it would just look, fake. As you said it definitely would have to look "lived in".

I think it's a good idea. If anyone would try this, I would imagine it would be superjedi, since he has so many variants in his collection already.

I wouldn't mind doing this, just to have it.

I don't know about a "pristine Fett" per se, but considering his helmet clearly sports several layers of paint, I've always thought it would be interesting to "peel" back layers and reveal what might've been earlier paintschemes his helmet had.

I always just considered the underlayers to be primer in some cases and "fresh" unoxidized paint under recent chips in others. Only the left earcap has underlayers that seem at odds with the top layer. Always figured that, even if he had replaced/supplemented everything except the helmet over the years, he'd've stripped 'em down and repainted them. Except the ROTJ gauntlets, for whatever reason(s).

I asked about that over a year ago, as I thought seeing a freshly suited Boba Fett would be cool, but with a place focused on accuracy, I haven't seen anybody willing to take the plunge yet in making a pristine Fett yet.

I know I'm guilty of commissioning some to make a pre-damaged Fett helmet and then backing out and just going full ROTJ :rolleyes

Hey, he looked pretty clean when he first started out post-Clone Wars as a Protector himself... ;)

...so there's precedent. Pre-dent precedent, if I may be so silly...
