Well I may as well do a thread on it so I dont hijack other peoples threads with my stuff
Ive started painting a helmet in the PP2 colour scheam , Im trying to get this one as close to the way the helmet is now days with the cut marks and all
Started by taking the masking to the gel coat the painted silver and gray patchs were they were I thought needed I do not beleive the original helmets we painted in layers of onee colour at a time I think there were patchs here and colours there , most so with the PP2 helmet, any way this is it so far the next image is the real PP2 helmet
so far Im happy with the look and I think the colours are good it doesnt look it but there is 5 colours there so far including the silver

Disclaimere the first pic the colour is distorted due to being taken inside at night under lights with the flash the third pic is what the colour looks like

That's really looking great! Did you sponge that silver on there? It looks thin and spongy just like the original!

No it just layers of misting the to get the larger drops it pushed a thin slither of plastic in to the tip of my air brush and it spits a bit

Just some thing I wipt up not for this helmet but it will be going in to mabey my MR proto(Ill need to change the wires these Ive actually got enough to do one for each helmet any way ) for a PP3 Replica or an ESB helmet as these are the corect wires for the ESB and with Sskunkys helmet liner im almost there al I need is some nice metal ears (6 sets) and Ill be happy

All correct vintage parts , foor this part there is no point doing it if you dont do it right

Capacitors are wrong rating but I finlly found some of the corect vintage ones (and at a good price)

Got a bit more work done to the dome
the visor isnt in place yet so thats why it looks a bit off

I just use a cheap duel action brush with a small compressor (with tank and moister filter)

Thats about the same as mine , , they can be tedious but the results are worth it and you can use such a wide range of colours

That is the same brush I use it's a VL as long as use keep it clean it will last for ever.

Thanks so far so good , this is a practice run for when I get my GMH so Im experimenting with the application methods \
edit,to be honest paints used are actually vintage floquils

Done a bit more work on the face , its a bit ruff but it will come together when the ears and visor go in
