    Polishing a Cold Cast Helmet?

Got my beautiful Cold Cast Boba helmet from Asok today and I want to get started on it. Is steel wool all I need to polish it to a metal finish? Is there some kind of metal polish to be used as well? Are there steps to be taken like finishing a paint job on a model car, i.e. progressively finer sandpaper and then a polishing compound. Any advice will be appreciated. It is so smooth and nice looking right now, I don't want to screw it up!

    KRIFF!

You robbed a lot of people of a good laugh by describing the helmet in your heading.

I used Mothers mag aluminum polish on my cc jango stuff, works great! They sell it at wal-mart in auto section.

let me amend my earlier statments. That was for the Jango cast. My Boba cast did not need as much sanding. I would start with the 400 and then the 800. Wet sand on both and then the polish. The Jango is a little more work. I posted a pic in a thread of my Boba cast and it had not had much work on it at the time of the pic.

If I use a polish like Mothers or Meguire's can I paint over it?

    No!!
dont pollish it with pollish , just use 0 grade steel wool, ]
most pollishs are wax or sillicon bassed and there for paint wont stick to them

I have not finished mine out yet. But the recommendation I have been given was to get it good and shined up and then clear coat it before applying any paint. I am repeating advice that I have not tried yet but thats what I have been told.

Are you wanting to paint it? Im assuming you do...get 0000 steel wool polish it up with that, not really polishing at all but removing the finish left from casting...the ear cap takes a lot more work than the helmet but itll get to the finish u want...I got it to where I wanted then clear coated it to keep the finger prints off the CC is soft when ur warm hands touch it it leaves prints...good luck with it any questions let me know Its a Boba Helmet guys NOT a jango so no poilishing it to shine

yeah, there's no need to use metal polish on a boba helmet. it's way more banged up than a jango. where it's at right now is perfect for painting a boba.
