Got my DVH ESB in the other day and it's beautiful in all of its wonkyness ! I trimmed it out already and have been collecting parts for it . Got elctronic range finder kit , real Borden connector , real mq1 on the way , aluminum stalk and am waiting to snag a topper light kit for it . Got the range electronics all placed in and fit nice , got padding temp placed in for comfort

Need to build and put the visor clips in the bottom then strip it down and prime it then start the back panels .

I wanted to have it balances out and noticed the pre dimpled holes were about the same distance as the boxes so it only made sense to do so . Plus with them there they don't even come close to my head and the weight is low so the helmet stays in place so that's a bonus . Just need to extend the power pack wires to reach across the back of the helmet .

Do you plan on mounting any fans in your helmet?

i actually do not , i am a very big advocate of not using fans or cool suits . my personal belief is , if all you know is having fans and cool air what happens when the day comes when your fans die or there is a malfunction and you're far away from a dressing room or anywhere you can pull off your helmet ? most people who's fans break or die start freaking out and having panic attacks so why even bother ? i'm 270 pounds, life is hot already for me whats another couple degrees hahaha

although the way it is set up i have plenty of room to run fans if id like to . guessing that's what you were after .

Yea that was what I was curious about since most people seem to mount the fans on the side. You do raise a good point though and it's obviously all personal preference. Regardless of if you ever put fans in it or not the way you mounted the ears is very well thought out. I can't wait to see it all painted up. Btw I don't know if its smudges on the brow but it looks like Fett has eyebrows lol.

i want to say that behind the boxes there is enough room to mount fans so that they blow up the back of the ears and down the front of the face or maybe under the boxes via tubing up to the face ? I might actually play around with that at some point just to see ...... Damn now you got me thinking hahahahh the smudges are where the dremel came a little too close to the face and rubbed a little , they are spot puttied and are about to get sanded !

Up from the back like you describe is how I mounted mine. I opted for this location due to the noise the fans make, back there I don't hear them as well. Also this way it blows across the top of my head (probably the hottest part) and down the visor, hopefully will help keep it clear. The inrush of air at the nape of my neck is equally refreshing!

the air across the visor to keep it clear would be nice ! Only problem I would have is that I have a huge piece of foam across the forehead of my helmet . I'm thinking of running tubing with little holes drilled in it to blow air across and around .

You our guys got me thinking about fans so I ordered a kit to play around with

Consider changing your strip of foam to a few blocks, this would allow airflow.

also thinking of running a tube under the foam with like a mister style hole pattern under the foam so it's like a wall of fresh air running down the front ?!
