May want to tone down the glossiness a little, may Testor's Dullcote or a blackwash.

Is this a scratchbuilt helmet?

i realy dont know wut scratchbuilt means but i think so,

i will try the blaskwash tomorow the i wil post some images, thank you o/

i hope they are because i realy want to make new ones

yes its scratchbuilt. everything in my costume is scratchbuilt

and all those things arent realy good because they are scratchbuilts

but they are all mine *happy face*

scratchbuilt means home made. One thing I would do is take the T visor out and cut the excess back to make a nice uniform edge. That will pull the mandibles back to live up with the brow at the bottom of the dome.

i wll do it for 2008 because i study from 6am 6pm and i dont have mux money too (im just 15 years old) xD

ManjiBR,

While your scratchbuilt helmet needs abit more work [just listen to the Hemet pros here and it'll turn out fine.], I must say I'm impressed with what you've done so far. Good work!

Thanks for sharing your work with us. :cheers

Stay safe,

Tim.

Hey. Great job. At 15 I was still using paper mache LOL. In fact, my very first Star Wars costume was Darth Vader. Paper mache mask and armor, vynil for the suit, and a white plastic golf club sleeve stuck to a flashlight for a lightsaber. Even if there are details that are off about your helmet it's still a great job, and a lot of work.

I scratchbuilt mine because of the money maybie. If i had ordered a helmet from us to brasil the costs would be 2x more.

Now the helmet is under 3 layers of mate bernis (is this way we call "vernis fosco" here?) and it still shiny i will put something like 5 or one hundred until it gets totaly not-shiny(mate?).

I have the rest of the armour to show you too, but i think this tread is just for helmets.

i took some pctures this afternoon and i think you will not say that my helmet is shiny anymore (i hope) here they are.

hey, not bad for your first one!!!!
you may also try some diferents ways to make the battle damage...in a way thats not looks like its made with a brush, and because it have been kicked, punched and blasted... :)
I use 2 ways to do it:
1- paint it all in silver and put some mustard where you whant that the silver scratches be...(it sounds weird, but ist`s work).
when the mustard really dry (really) aplly the other colors.
when the other colors really dry (really), gently remouve the mustard...and SURPRISE!!! autentic battle damage....
2-this one it`s my favorite...paint the silver, and the other colors ( not mustard requerid :)) use some metal brighter on where you want the damage, and gently rubb the other paint, when the silver start to show...
in both use a black wash to smooth the colors...
I really like the helmet, need some work on it, but if you made this, you can make a litle more...(y)
keep the good work!

yep, the mustard is a real method...try it, if you don't like it, at least you can eat it...jeje
no, the mustard works good, it's a cheap way, instead the masked fluid...
I have painted all my stuff using both...
now that you have installed the ears, its's giveme a gloval idea, and I think thats your helmet looks good, only you have to sand the ears, make them more smoth, and it will get you one step more...
keep working on this...and remenber, only fails the one's that never try...
good luck!
