Padding or a hard hat shell?

So many people seem to talk about padding their helmets, yet all the other helmet wearers I've ever known (eg: Stormtroopers, etc), have always been big fans of hard hat liners, and similar solutions to keep their buckets on. Is there some reason why a large number of Mando-type people prefer (or seem to prefer) padding?

hard hat liners Always pull out my hair. I guess tht's no problem if your bald.

I hate hard hat liners. Padding is the way to go.
