10. draw the light grey detail with white pencil on back panels, liquid mask
11. masking tape the whole helmet except back panels
12. spray silver metallic no.11

tip: use keyslots to determine scale and position of damage. If the light grey is not surrounded by silver, leave the liquid mask on!

5. liquid mask red and grey
6. green 78+159

tip: peel back the dry liquid mask with a point to adjust fine detail...

Hi Mr Fettler,
when you state (6. green 78+159) are you mixing the colours together or are you misting one colour over the other with the airbrush?

I've seen you state this before but never quite understood what you meant.

Hi Jason those colours are mixed before going through the airbrush...

13. outline silver damage on back panels with sharp pencil
14. liquid mask silver damage on back panels
15. spray grey no.79

tip: if the silver is not surrounded by grey, leave the liquid mask on! The grey damage within the silver on the R/H panel will be added as an individual layer later.

My same question - how do you keep it so sharp ? peel off at the just the right time as the paint sets up ? :confused

I think its a combination of the way the liquid mask adheres to the metallic silver, almost with a fine ragged edge and the thickness of the next coat, that and keeping the detail as small as possible and even omitting parts that are too fine; these areas can be scratched in later. I left the grey layer 12 hours before the mask came off, this also played a part...
