I just got my Helmet in, And i have no clue how to begin painting and weathering it...any advice on the first steps i should take

Hey bud,

I dunno what lid you've got but have you trimmed out the visor and keyslots etc...?
If you have you might want to consider how you want to paint it, either topical or layered. the latter is is a little harder (from what I've read) there are plenty of threads with current paint jobs going on at the mo? so you might wanna have a quick read through those to gauge the do's and don't s.

The Helmet is ready to be painted the Visor and the Keyslot is trimmed out...i'm just not sure the best way to do topical painting, or how to use stencils and stuf for the battlewear

Topical - I think is easier of the two methods.
Paint the helmet in it's primary colours (Will depend on variant) e.g dome and cheeks olive green / mandibles red etc... then using the stencils you can either draw the damage on then apply the relevant paint colour... or go straight into the painting by free hand? If you need any ref pics just let me know bro. (y)

also whats the best way to fix cracks...for example the thing peice at the bottom of the circut board on the helmet cracked staright through the fiberglass....how would i repair that

For weathering, I just paint a silvery color first, then the color you want it to be, then use a high grit sandpaper and carfully sand away top color in areas. Plus, is want it to look more aged, just water down ink and use a paper towel to paint it on then dab it away. I used this on my Revan armor is you'd like some pics.

P.S. Where on Earth does everyone get their helmets. I have no clue so I'm making my own custom. http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php/36942-Custom-Mando-Helm
