New Sgt Fang Helm Comparison Pics

Hi everyone,

Just received one of the new Sgt Fangs. My girlfriend has one of the older ones so I thought everyone might like to see some comparison pictures. The helmets are not perfectly lined up because I took the pictures quickly. Just wanted to give a general idea of what they look like. Let me know what else you want to see.

The new Fang is on the left, the old one is one the right.

i can barely tell the differences except for the mold seamline from the old one.

reason enough to get one of these helmets. glad to hear the new mold is done

is it me or is the old one a tad bigger?:?

it looks to me that the old helmet has a bit more flare to it

I think its more of a matter of camera perspective than anything.

You're probably right. I doubt his mold would've changed that much. He said he only changed the cheeks, no seam, and the mandible bulge his kid added.

is it just me or is the t-visor area really out of square? maybe its a optical illusion

I agree. I will take better pictures later to show everything closer up (and in a much more aligned fashion).

I will also try to get a good picture of the mandible bulge.

That flare is incorrect; it looks like either the helmet got warped when he recast the Mystery Helmet he won off E-Bay or the original E-bay helmet was already warped. I can't say for certain which—it's been awhile since he first presented the "pre-recast."

Agreed, the flare has pretty much been shown to be simple camera angle differences etc

I like the new one:thumbsup

if you shoot at 50mm its will take the distortion out. Also it really depends on the lens u have. ANything below 40mm you will get barrel distortion.

These pictures aren't perfect, I am not much of a photographer, but I hope the pics do the helmets a little bit more justice.

Yikes! is that bulge at the base of the helmet as bad as it looks? Looks like the mold needs a repair, or a do-over.

wow... i love the change to seamless molds, and the other cleanup... but that bulge. eep. i think i'd have had to toss the mold and start over :(

Yes, I read about it before I posted. Sarge took the time to clean up the master. Also, the price apparently went up. Why skimp on the mold quality?

I agree... if he has gone to the effort of creating the new seamless mould, why settle for the mandible buldges... looks like it's on the base of the lower cheeks too? :doh

The buldge is clear as day on the left mandible, but is it on the right as well? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

I was going to purchase one of these...now I'm not sure???? I'll be watching this thread. Thanks for the pics.
I do think the newer version has "cleaner" lines (minus the stated flaws).

There is a little bit of a bulge on the right side as well, but not as bad as the left.

A little bit of sanding and maybe some bondo and I think it will be fine.

According to his post, Fang's son peeled up the mold at the bottom to take a peek and it got the bulges. Bet he's banned from teh prop room at home. :doh:lol
