Hey guys,
I'm new here, and this is my first post. I've spent a good chunk of today browsing around, reading what i can in the hopes of learning enough that I, too, can create one of the works of arts that so many of you have. Some of the sets of armor here are outstanding. I absolutely love it!
I've done some really minor stuff in the past. It consisted of making an airsoft DL-44 for my Han Solo costume (whats this?? A han solo costumer on a mando site? gasp!)
I really want to make my own set of mando armor, especially since I'm planning on getting a mythosaur skull tat in the near future, to complement my rebel one I don't want to make a Boba or a Jango, I want to do something a little different.
Anyhow, I have a really really crappy two piece $30 Jango helmet that I got a while back. I know for darn sure I can't use that thing. I've been looking at eBay and what not and looking at everything from the high end $500 helmets, down to the POS $40ish ones. I don't really like the lumpy boba helmets, and I'm weary of most of the jango ones since they all have the same picture it seems (the same picture that was advertising that two piece i bought )
I found a resin kit thats unfinished that looks like it will suit my needs for $75. Can anyone tell me what this is and if its any good? the auction says "mystery" helmet, but ebay has lied to me before, and i'd like the opinion of experts. so is this helmet a good starting point?
Additionally, what other helmets do you guys recomend. I've seen some really nice ones in the $200+ range, but I have to be realistic with myself. I just can't afford to drop $200 on the helmet alone. less than $100 would be ideal. I probably sound like a cheapskate jerk right about now, and sorry for that, but i've got to give myself some limits on spending.
when i get around to it, i'll probably use sintra for the armor plates. I'm also planning a black/red or black/gold color scheme. I read what the colors mean, and that all works for me. It's gonna take me some time, as I'll probably have to do all the work at home 100 miles away (i live in the dorms at my college right now, with no tools or anything)
If you guys have any other tips or tidbits of info you'd like to share, i'd very much appreciate it. Thanks for any help in advance, and this is one of the coolest forums I've ever joined.
EDIT: it also occured to me that i should ask how big/small this helmet is. I'm just under 6feet tall but i'm not really built big. kinda scrawny when compared to people that are "in shape" lol I dunno how much that helps...
thanks again everyone!
