New don post build

New Hunter
so... Iv got so much from reading this forum, thought it's time for me to put back in, got my first fett lid today, don post 1997, going to do what I can to make it as good as I can, I have included the first lot of photos the before as it came and the second two are my efforts at trying to get it into a better shape, iv used a 1 inch aluminium strap, that you can get out of knee braces, bent it to shape and fit it in clamping as I go then using a large clamp backwards to spread it open at the base, I then used a hot air gun to slightly warm and soften the plastic to conform to the new shape I have given it, I'm going to leave it clamped over night and then use a resin to stick the brace into the helmet.
i would very much appreciate pointers and opinions as this is my first build, I'll get some more photos up as I go.

Think that might be the aspect ratio on my phone making it look bigger, once the resin is dried and I can stand it up al take some more pictures and see what it looks like

Day 2, damn it got up this morning found the lid on the floor, big split up the side, can you believe it, anyway could use a bit of advice, got the reinforcing/reshaping bar fibreglassed in, rough cut out the visor, filled the edge of the visor as to cut the whole bit out made it too wide so left 5mm each side which I think makes it look better, sealed fixed and filled the split, now when iv cut out the front for the visor it has misshapen again, any advice how to get it into a better shape ?

So,,, few days later.... With a lot of sanding, filling, fibreglassing, heating, bending more sanding and finally priming, this is where im at.
iv decided I'm not making an exact copy of boba im going to make my version of it.

So first coated the whole thing with silvered spray, masked with masking fluid, taped it up and airbrushed the cockpit green, after leaving it to set have removed the masking fluid, I quite like the patch effect it has, just waiting for more paints to arrive and then can do the rest, long slow process but I'm happy with the way it's coming on

Any ideas why my photos get turned upside down in between loading up from my computer to putting them on here ? anyway if you click on them they open the right way up. Anyway here is my build so far, iv used the humbrol paint up guide on here and rafafetts template, I'm liking how it looks so far, plenty of little bits to finish on it yet though, thoughts, opinions ?

Wow! awesome job so far! I cant believe you can make it look that good starting with a warped don post helmet. Keep it up! cant wait to see it finished!

Well I think the painting is now done, a couple of small details to complete when I get chance, obviously the visor needs installing, when it arrives, the front seems a little off, not quite straight, iv made a template and when the visor is fitted it straightens up nicely, I'm also not happy with the rf stalk, it's a resin cast one, but I can't get it right it just doesn't do, so I'm on the search for a new one, any comments/pointers would be gratefully received

Well it's finally done and added to my Star Wars helmet collection, first time making a boba helmet, and I'm quite pleased with it, lots of things I learned from the process, if I ever do another iv learnt a lot from it
