    My ROTJ helmet

    Hi all,

I bought a Mystery helmet kit from SMGesus some time back and decided to paint it in the ROTJ scheme. The kit was missing the rangefinder and stalk but Chris aka Fettpride was kind enough to help me out in that department (thanks again, brother!).

Also thanks to Chris for the pics of his ROTJ helmet at his site which I used for reference since I found it hard to get good reference pics of the screen used ones. Anyway, I used the topical style since I'm more confident of controlling the weathering this way compared to the layered method. Besides, that was how I painted my ESB helmet 3 years ago.

Basic colors were spray painted on (rattle cans, baby! ) and details hand painted.

    Anyway, on to pics:

Side by side with my ESB helmet:

Nice details! Considering its a topical (I'm a layered man myself) paintjob you really gave it some realistic damage. Awesome!

Thanks, guys! CC, I may have to try out that layered method sooner or later!

Layered is not bad... you just have to dab the masking fluid in tiny points. That way you have more control over the area you want to expose. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, CC. I think I'll try it out with my FP V3 armor.

Nice job! One minor note: The RotJ rangefinder doesn't have the little polaroid lens / window / whatever you want to call it. If possible, you should pop that off

As an aside, I'm always confused when people say they can't find reference images of the RotJ bucket. We have TONS of them right here on TDH...

I don't think there's a spot on the helmet that isn't covered in gory detail!

Thanks, brother. The RF is a one piece I got from fettpride, so the lense can't just be popped off... which means I'm gonna have to cut it off. Let me try and work up the courage to do that.

Thanks for the link to the galleries... must have slipped my mind when I was painting it... d'oh!
