Perhaps a more complete pic will help those who are having a difficult time visualizing this.

    visor_attachment_bracket-jpg

As has been stated above, you can see in this pic that the bracket is simply rectangular strip of metal that has been bent into an "L" shape. The bracket was then glued/epoxied/puttied to the cheek of the helmet. After that they simply ran a screw through the bracket and I too believe it only holds the visor in via pressure.

On a side note, you can also see the brass diagnostics port on the cheek (what most people call the cheek detail).

    BB,

Any idea of how many of those brackets are inside the helmet or their placement?

I can only confirm 4, the twoon the bottom and two at the top. I will try to get a picture up later. It seems to me that 6 would hold the visor much more steadily but I can't confirm that there are six in the helmet...

I've just fitted the rangefinder to my Fett helmet, i used the RA metal stalk and the clear resin rangefinder/top that comes with the helmet, after a lot of work sanding and filling, these clear resin rangefinders are perfect!
Just the visor to fit now, then its time to find the RIGHT green.

    Keith,

Don't forget the right the thickness either!!! I have yet to see a faceshield come in the proper thickness-- all have been too thin. Good luck in the search!
