Is my helmet too wide?

Hi Fetters, been a while!

I am just looking through some of my photos from my latest Troop, which was about 3 months ago. And I can't help but feel that my helmet is too wide. I have the Asok Cold Cast helmet and it is always rubbing on my collar armour... I have mounted a helmet interior inside it to keep it off my head a bit, but it still feels too big. :/ Is this known with Asok helmets? Also, any other comments on the costume would be appreciated. :)

Here is a picture:

I think it could sit off your head a bit more it looks fine in size...the one thing that sticks out though is your vest it shouldnt be so long...it should stop a little below your belly plate there.

Cheers F4R. I have mounted the lining of a hard hat inside the roof of my helmet using car body filler... will now need to somehow remove it, sand it down to new and re-fit it. Hmm any advice on that would be appreciated hahaha. Or I could just put the lining as tight as it goes so it is sitting on top of my head. :p I guess that'd do for now. Not brilliant in the way of being secure...

Also, thanks for the tip with my vest. I'll get my person seamstress to sort it out :). Good old mother.

Hmm..it looks a tad large to me. I bet the GMH would be perfect for ya, if you can get a hold of one. Possibly a bobamaker as well.

As for other feedback...the bottom of the vest should end just a tad under the ab plate. (as Fett 4 real mentioned...beat me to the post lol)You also need those straps that go around the bottom of the legs to bring in/taper the bottoms of your jumpsuit legs.

The ammobelt and pouches look a bit oversized to me, but it could just be the pic.

Other than those few things...i think your suit looks great!

It's not too surprising that the Asok helmet is a bit big. It does come from the Master Replica, which was upscaled after the 3D scan. I'm a pretty small guy myself and I know that the MR is way too big for me, after I tried out a garrison mates helmet.

Ah that explains it. I'll upgrade to a smaller one eventually if the re-fitting the lining doesn't work ;). Cheers Locitus. Unfortunately my current living situation doesn't allow me to paint all that much. :/ So I'll have to buy a nice new painted one or find somewhere to paint.

After I have shortened the vest, I'll be able to pull the belt up a tiny bit higher and the pouches won't look so huge cause they'll be higher up. :p

I think your helmet looks good. Can't really tell because of the side angle. Vest and flightsuit look a little long and baggy though. Nothing you can't get fixed up! May I ask how tall you are ?

What is the width of your shoulders out of costume? Based upon both Jeremy Bulloch's and Temuera Morrison's shoulder width to helmet width, the ratio should be 2:1.

The original ILM helmet's width (in this case the Pre-Pro #3) has around 245mm (9.645 inch) without the ears. If your helmet's width is much bigger (or smaller) than this, then you have a bigger (or smaller) helmet than the original.

@Sleepalot: I'm about 5'10.

I don't have massive shoulders, but the padding buffs me out a bit! :p I think it just needs to be a bit higher, cause I don't have a long neck either. :p I'm sure it'll look a lot better when I've done that. :) Cheers for all the input.
