OK, the camera flash goofed the colors somewhat, and it makes it appear too shiny. It is my first attempt at a paint job like this. I am "air-brush challenged", so all the paint used on this bucket are straight out of the spray can. Regardless...Here it is!

And here is an updated pic of one of my breast plates. I haven't finished the rest yet, oh and the decal is from Vashdestampede.

Comments are very welcome.

Looks good Tracy...I'm liking it. Would very much like to meet you in person. I wish I could make it down to Alabama for Joey's party this weekend but I can't. You are more then welcome to come up to my house on the 7th of Feb. We will be working on Gauntlets and other Mandalorian stuff. One of our soon to be members (Kevin) is working on an ESB as well and Ivan and myself are fine tuning Jango, Jaster and another. Hope to see you soon.

Great job, one suggestion is to paint that screen mesh in the back keyholes and left ear the same color as what's around it, so it doesn't stand out so much.

Wish you could have come, we had a blast! I won't be able to make it up there on the 7th :(
I've got a long business trip to Washington state and won't be back until the 11th. I really wish I could get in on the gauntlets...Their my last BIG project other than the jet pack. Maybe you and I and Fetthunter can get together soon and finish this thing up. I would love to be able to do the St. Patty's parade as Fett, but I guess I'll go as a Tusken (probably be the last time I'll wear it until the fall - its just too hot!).
Keep me posted on your progress!

Phantom, Jodo - Thanks for the kind words. It think everyone at the prop party like it too. I really like this helmet, except for the flair. I'm a small guy, so the size fits me ok...maybe later I'll trade up to DP deluxe or MSH.

hansoloway - I thought about painting them, but I kinda like the contrast of the screen against helmet. I may end up painting them later...

Thanks to everyone for looking!

I got to see it this weekend and its a nice paint job Tracey.
Yeah the size of the bucket should be relative to your body size..., you wouldn't want to look like a Pez dispenser!

Resurrection of My ESB DP '96

Whoa, this is an old thread...

I did some work to my bucket this weekend getting ready for DCon, and I thought I would share. If you looked at the pics above you can see the way it used to look.

This weekend, I trimmed my visor some, did away with the hot glue holding it in and went to plastic welding glue, and let it get hot in the sun so I could flare it more. Here is the comparision.

Way better...IMHO. The flare looks to be just right, and I finally got the T-visor straight. I also found this at our local ROSS store.

It is a papertowel holder or something I got for $9. Why do you ask, is it in the helmet section? Well, it's perfect for this...

Thanks!

I think it looks so much better, but I'm afraid it might go back to its old shape. I read a tut somewhere about using a knitting ring or something to make it keep its shape. Any other ideas?

I can't take full credit for the towel holder idea. I read about it somewhere before, but I thought I would share it for those who hadn't seen or read about it before...

Tracy,
Looking good man! The flare helped. Of course I thought it looked good at Adcon. As far as holding the shape, I used some punch tin glues to the inside to reinforce it. That along with the visor has held the shape for almost a year now! Hope to see you soon.
