my BobaMaker helmet, starting the assembly process...HELP!

Well after sitting on a shelf for almost two years I finally had my BobaMaker helmet painted and it looks AWESOME!

Now I'm ready to assembly the ear and RF stalk assembly. I am not overly concerned with it being mobile (veticle to horizontal) but it would be nice to have that functionality however, I do NOT want it flopping around or falling. I'd rather it stay upright than have it flopping around. I also want to make certain the ear cap over the stalk is pulled up nice and flush.

That being said, what is the ideal method for assembling this and retaining the criteria outlined above. The easy method is just load it up with epoxy, clamp it all in position and let it cure. What other methods have been used?

Thanks,

Ted

With my previous BM bucket I used a small Screw, washer and nut to hold it in place. I did have to bore out the RF stalk just a bit so that the screw would sit flush, I also did the same to the inside of the ear cap to make sure it did not rub against the stalk.

So the screw would face in toward the inside of the helmet with the nut and washer closest to the ear? How exactly does this go together? I'm wary of starting to drill anything until I know exactly what I need to accomplish.

Thank s for the input!

Ted

My helmets RF stalk was already on but I would get a machine screw the about a half inch long thats tapered, epoxy it to the stalk so its going through it into the helmet get a washer of some sort to go against the ear cap...maybe a copper one to have some friction. Then go through inside have a washer there as well and a nut I would say that would work to where the stalk and nut would rotate but not free enough to fall.

The way my stalk is though it has a helacoil inside it (basically a nut built into it) and theres a hex bolt going from the inside of the helmet into it with a washer between the fiberglass and the bolt

Hey bro, can you provide us with one or two pictures of this? Curious ... :)

Most deffinately Gimme like ten minutes lol I have nothing else going on right now really bored about to try and weather my flight suit i think

I think you can get the idea...if you look at the stalk theres a circle of metal impregnated into it...thats threaded the second pic illustrates it best but it is pretty solid can go halfway and not fall

I like the helicoil through the stalk. That was something I didn't think about. Thanks bro!

What is that holding your ear cap on? Magnets?

Thanks gain
