MQ-1 vs working PCB for range finder stalk control?

Greetings folks.

Been a lurker for a few months and finally decided to take the plunge and jump in here.

I have question for those of you working towards 501st entry with regards to screen authenticity and functionality of the helmet. My issue is with buying and installing an MQ-1 Cast vs utilizing that space to add electronics to the bucket to control the range finder stalk. Is it acceptable to place an actual working PCB populated with working components behind the keyholes to control the stalk rather than placing a cast of the MQ-1 and having something completely unusable back there? Is this acceptable from a 501st standpoint? It doesn't seem so from their costume reference library. Is this blasphemous of me to even consider?

Any insight/comments are greatly appreciated.

Our best bet would be to contact a 501st liaison to see what they think. I believe it says "MQ-1 circuit board or cast replica", but if you made a PC board that looks a lot like the MQ-1, it may be passable, but that is just my opinion.
