MMGRAPHICS PAINTJOB FP PREMIUM ESB STYLE FOR CAPTAIN SOLO

So here is the long awaited update on #1.

Only two steps in one but the dark green for the back panels is going on tonight so there are more updates this week!

I plan to close it up soon so there won´t be any delays any more. :)

Best,
Manuel

Hi JayBox325, I used images from the TDH gallery, there are tons of great photos. After some time doing several ESB paintjobs I have my own helmet as a good reference, as it is very close to the original. This way I can look at it on every angle. ;)

I use humbrol colors and my airbrush to get the job done. Masking fluid is the key. :)

I have most of the paints, Can't afford to buy/learn to use an airbrush, got liquid latex, just need the main green and reference photos. :p

For the ESB helmet use "The Art of Star Wars" and the "Star Wars Celebration IV" images from the Gallery. Or you can use for reference paint stencils posted in the sticky thread "All Boba Fett Helmet Stencils And Templates".

I was thinking about using this:

http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f23/boba-fett-esb-helmet-stencils-41899/

I am trusting it's accurate. But for the dome, I think I would prefer photos as the flat image of the dome there ^ doesn't do it for me, I would rather have 4 photos; side, front, side, back. So I can visually reference and match :p

I did those stencils using the reference images from the TDH Gallery. While you will find reference images with the 4 sides you mentioned, but you'll have a hard time with the dome top scratch, because there isn't an actual image with a direct shot. Here is my helmet made with my templates and my paint stencils Making The First Rafal Works Helmet.

Sorry mmgraphics for hijacking your thread.

Manuel,

It is looking amazing, I'm really looking forward to using this as my new trooping bucket.......

I am really diggin' this! There is some really great info between this and terminal fettler's tutorial. I intend to make use of it!

Yes Robert, new pictures of the almost finished helmet will be up tomorrow. Then I just need to paint the ears and insert the visor and magnets.

So we´re pretty much done bro.

Thanks for the patience, I know it takes a while now, but the end is in sight ... ^^

hi manuel, noticed you say you use humbrol paints - what red shade do you go with for the mandible red? I like your shade, but it does look differrent to the wine 73 that is often recommended - do you use a mix, is it just the photos, or do you go with something differrent entirely? cheers bud

@Major: Just a short message, the update will follow within the next hour. Just prepping some pics of zshermans helmet too and then it goes online here. This way I can update both threads.

@Jayvee: It is indeed the humbrol #73 that I use. The purple is a complete layer underneath, maybe that´s why it slightly looks different? And I use 0000 wirewool to flatten down the color. Both will maybe do the trick. :)

BRB in about an hour ... WITH update on #1! :)

Thanks for that info manuel, im tossing up between 3 differrent reds, so will keep colour testing, but its great info to have when I get to the mandible paint up stages. Thanks again! :)
