    Mini T-Bone

Finally getting around to painting my sons helmet. Its one of T-Bones mini Fetts.

Here's what I have for you guys so far...

    Prep:

No primer pic, but here's the italian olive:

With some black misted Rustoleum royal blue that was left over from my Jango bucket:

Range finder... E-cookie for anyone that can tell me what I used instead of LED's:

Fast forward to finished base colors, with a light dull coat. The specs that you see on the cheeks is spider webbing from the Krylon burgandy... I can never get that color to spray without cracking, so I rely on my top coats to smooth it out.

I know the cheeks are still on the blue side, but I'll take care of that with my final misting/dry brushing:

Made some progress, obviously not going for accuracy but theres a representation of everything there. Needs some touching up on some parts of the silver. I'm using some nasty old crusty paint. Maybe one day I'll learn to buy new supplies per project, instead of using left overs.

I messed up the spacing on the left side, but I still think it looks pretty good. Gonna have to touch a bunch of stuff up, like the scratches to the right of the arrows. All in all though, I don't think its too bad for a kids bucket.

    --------------------------------------

    FINISHED

I'll being putting a couple more pics up (of all sides) in the next day or so, I think T-Bone wanted some for his gallery.

Made some progress, and added a pic to the top post.

Yeah, its an awesome helmet, I just hope it turn out well. I'm really half a'ing this one. Everything has been free handed so far. I really regret not sanding the burgandy down, and also regret using the old paint. I don't think I'm gonna back track though, its not like he'll be able to wear it forever.

It's hard to imagine the scale of the helmet. Can you put a regular size helmet next to it?

I don't have a helmet of my own anymore. I have a deal worked out for new one, just waiting for the guy to get around to making it. Here's one from T-Bones site, though... Its next to a DP.

Easiest thing to fit right inside (I know cause its what I used when I created it :P) is a welding visor. I do not suggest getting anything darker than a shade 4, and preferably, if you are using this for your child, would be a shade 3 so its not SO dark. Leave a good 1/4 of an inch overlap and you should be good to go.

Nice Mini T-Bone helmet, excellent paint job! Are you getting a bigger sized one for your son? If so what make? I think my son is also going to quickly outgrow mini T-bones's helmet. BTW, who helped you for the soft parts ?

    Re: Mini T-Bone

SGB made my son a suit and vest... My cousin is making a neckseal, and I made the girth belt ala tk409. I also did the side pouches myself, but am not thrilled with them. The belt was a test belt of someones on here that he wasnt happy with so I got it cheap... Its out of proportion, so I think I'm gonna try my hand at making a mini belt soon too. The cape is army shelter material and the shoes are $5 Walmart slip ons that I spray painted.

To answer the other question, I actually just downsized TO the mini T-Bone. I don't think his costume is gonna last longer than a year or so though. He's growing so fast. But hey, then it will be time for a mini Jango.

In these pics, his suit is just a grey sweat suit, and the vest is a chopped up mock turtle neck. The jet pack is foam board, fiberglass mat, and lots of bondo. I know the jp isnt accurate and is the wrong color for the suit, but it was made in a day and a half... Rush job for Halloween. Its been repainted for ROTJ, and I'm gonna do a better missile for it as well. Pics will be up as soon as I get the suit/vest, and some earth magnets for his ear cap.

    Watch the profanity.

The use of profanity is prohibited. For clarification on what qualifies as "profanity", please visit Wikipedia and search for “profanity” and “list of profanities” Profanity includes but is not limited to blasphemy (insults, slang or taking the name of a deity in vain), general insults and expletives, sexual insults or slang, and discriminatory insults or slang. Additionally, adding "@" or "#" or "$" or "%" or "*" or "-" or any other character in place of letters in curse words do NOT make those words acceptable to post.
