The Mini Boba Fett Helmet - ESB Style

RafalFett

Hi!

As some of you know, I made an ESB style painted Boba Fett helmet from scratch and you can find it here http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f23/my-boba-fett-helmet-using-antmans-building-tips-39024/.

Now I want to start another helmet build... this time in a smaller scale. As I done with my first helmet, this one will be made using WOF's templates combined with Skip's Papekura design and Rich D.'s paints and scratches.

You may ask "Why to do this small sized helmet? What is the purpose of this?" Well, I guess a small helmet like this is good to put it in your car, or put it on your PC or Mac monitor or wherever you like it...

Here is the helmet:

Oups! This is my life-sized helmet... Here is the one I'm talking about:

And here is the height of the helmet in centimeters:

The ears of the helmet and the rangefinder are so small that some of you will curse me for those parts... But this is the beauty of it. If you want a good looking helmet, you must do the best of you.

As you can see on the dome, there are some raw scratches and the 2D dent. This was drawn on the dome to get a first look on where to put those nasty scratches on the dome templates. Here are the templates in black/white and in color (these are not the final templates):

Here is the dome made after I reprinted with the scratches drawn:

And here is a small mistake I made:

I made this small rangefinder without checking the right dimensions. But it turned out really well. This will be a future smallest helmet project? Well, we can never tell...

Next step will be to make the helmet with the coloured templates to see if this need further adjustments. Then I will make the dome scratches and the dome in 3D. Then I must do the colouring of the rangefinder.

Until next time...

Respect!

Thats pretty cool! (y)
Im having enough trouble building the ear caps and here you built 2 different sizes. :(

Thanks! It is a little hard to do all those small parts, but it worths the hard work after it's done.

Today I made those nasty scratches on the dome using Rich D.'s dome scratches and some photo references. I think this look really great, but this ain't the final version.

Tomorow I will do the coloured version of the helmet to see if everything fits well, then I will show you the result.

Any help is welcomed.

Hello!

Today, as I promised, I made the coloured version of the helmet. It is not a perfect one, but good for a second start. The dome is a little big and I cut a little bit from the rear side of it. I must redraw the top dome scratch, but overall this looks good. You can see that I made the front arrows in 3D look and I will make the rear keyhole and the dent as well.

What do you think about this helmet? I'm on the right track?

Thanks.

Hi again!

I'm back with the finished coloured helmet. This is the second try of this small sized helmet and is looking good. I guess the third try will be a better one and maybe the final one. Here are the helmet with the ears and the moving rangefinder done:

Dsc05075.jpg Dsc05077.jpg Dsc05078.jpg Dsc05079.jpg Dsc05080.jpg Dsc05082.jpg Dsc05088.jpg Dsc05092.jpg Dsc05089.jpg Dsc05095.jpg

You can see that the right ear is not very well done, but you' can get an idea of it.

And here is another proof of the helmet's dimensions:

So, the next step will be the correction of the dome top scratch placement, the 3D look dent and a new mini helmet scratch build.

Until next time...

That is really cool!
you wouldnt happen to have the color templates in full size would you?
My son saw this and thought it would be really cool if he could build it full size using the colored templates.

Thanks a lot!

I had in mind to do something like that, and I even started to do it, but put it in a hold. As soon as I finish the mini Boba Fett helmet (wich will serve as a model for the full size helmet, specially for the dome).

Respect!

That would be awesome!

I don't know if you realized that you responded to a 11 year old comment, but the color templates (or stencils) can be found in the sticky threads in both Costume and Helmet sections. Also if you use my stencils along with the the RWH v2 templates you can achieve the same look. I did my RWH v1 helmet using mostly cardboard and the printed stencils instead of paint ==> Making the first Rafal Works Helmet.
