Master Replicas Helmet Thread

Stormrider

Well-Known Hunter
There was a thread that had pictures, information, etc from someone that saw the helmet at a show.

I think it was labeled MR and not Master Replicas, and MR is not allowed for a search term that is why I am making this thread.

Can someone point me to that thread if they have it bookmarked? I cant find it and ive went back quite a ways.

Im wondering in particular how the ear pieces are made, and how the visor is attached.

Thanks.
Mason

Awesome thank you kindly:)

Answers most of my questions right out the shoot.

Looks like its not all molded as one piece. Everything comes off in case I decide to re-paint it.

The lining looks very nicely done. Is it velcroed on?

And whats the rangefinder stalk made of? Resin or alum?

Thanks again.

Yah know, I never noticed before, but what's going on with the RF ear cap ? It looks like the top cap assembly is in 3 pieces, instead of 2? Or two really strange pieces  And the top part of the mounting platform that's molded to the helmet is red, and not the ear cap gold ?? And what's with those two little red knobs coming out of the keyslots? (were those on the PP3 ? )

Overall though, those are the most impressive pics of it that I think I've seen, aside of the comparison shots that Brak's Buddy was able to offer us of the MR recast. I think I'm glad that I ordered one. thanks for sharing Mandalorefett :cheers

Stormrider - you still with me bud? (inside thing to others that don't get it ) ;)

The earcaps are indeed jacked up... one of my only big issues with the MR helmet for the most part. But what can you do. Its still a great helmet. The nobs, not sure about that and they may not be in the final helmet that ships, no way to know. MR did some last minute mods on the Stormtrooper due to fan outcrys so they may remove them. I hope they do, other wise I will break mine off...LOL :)

I think it was just easier for them to do the right earcaps like they did... god knows why though.

I ordered one of these, primarily because its easier for me to understand what Im sculpting if I can hold it examin *** from all angles.

Thats why I ordered a don post, before I made a scratch bucket, because I just didnt understand from pictures how some of the angles came together.

Besides with the limited quantity, even if in 6 months i didnt want it, I doubt you could lose much on such a nice collectors piece.

Lets just hope they send me the helmet marked #1:)

Im here FP. Just busy with a bunch of projects. Waiting on your time to clear up and for you to finish that cross country trek of yours.

Everythings sitting tight waiting for your schedule to clear up.

If I dont hear from ya, merry xmas, to you and yours.

You're welcome. I couldn't tell how the lining is attached, maybe Predatormv could shed some light on that subject. He wore a sample piece on his head. :)

I don't know what the RF is made of, but I do know that the lights blink in the down position. (y)

FP you're right on all counts. The right earcap is a little funky. The two knobs on the keyslots are supposed to be gone on the final product, but the PP3 scratches will stay as far as I know.

You're welcome too. (y)

I really like this helmet as well. I had the chance to see it or maybe it was an earlier version in LA during Celebration Four weekend...very impressive! But you know, I could do with out sooo much paint spatter:rolleyes Other than that I can't wait to get mine(y)

I dont like the paint spatter too much either. I would have expected a little finer mist, and less 'rattle can' looking spray. Lets just pretend its blood. Either bounty or sculpter, but blood none the less:)

Thanks for these pictures. Undoubtedly it does have a few elements that are not as we would like in terms of accuracy but it is still an extremely good helmet for the price. I'm really looking forward to receiving mine.

I just don't understand how it could happen that Master Replicas did not realise the visor getting narrow at the bottom?!? Do you thimk this can be "repaired"?

The helmet was scanned off of a Pre-Pro 3 (PP3) helmet, so it looks just like it, visor taper, paint damage and all.

Repaired? I don't know, but I know people will be re-working their helmets.

If you look closely at the pics you can tell that the visor has come undone, my bet is that the mandibles are straight when the visor is attatched

Amy from MR posted at Rebelscum that the last 69 direct orders from the Stormie helmets were going to be cancelled. hope this doesn't happen with the Boba bucket :facepalm
