    MS3 *UPDATE*

When I first started this project the intent was to rebuild to as screen accurate as possible. BUT, along the way I have come to the conclusion that in order to keep the linage of this helmet certain details in the overall shape and size could not be changed without losing this "bloodline" to the real helmet. I am happy with the changes that have been made. Some are totally obvious, other quite subtle.
These are NOT the earcaps that belong to the bucket, I'll have more pics up in 2 days when there finish being made. The new earcaps will be offered in SILVER/NICKEL cold cast metal and will buff up to a pewter style finish(For those of you who are unsure what Cold Cast is, its a special resin that has metal powders mixed in.) This is an especially nice feature if you plan to go the ROTJ route.
Well if you have any questions feel free to post them. If you have a critisism or negitive comment keep it to PM or better yet yourself
OH I almost forgot the borden connector will come as a seperate piece that will plug right in. Over a bit of debate I deciede to go this route because I wanted to give you guys the option to easily install your own real BC's
    OK, enjoy the pics.

    *****JAN/23*****
I'm almost there. I've thrown in a piece of plastic behind the visor area and I'm not touching another thing on this helmet(at least not today anyhow )
I finished off my earcaps last night/ this morning and I'm satisfied with how everything has come together.
You'll notice gaps between the earcaps thats only because there is double sided tape inbetween holding everything together. The borden connector is a coldcast replica and looks very good, just like metal only its backwards DUH! I'm planing on drilling 1/2" holes in the sides of the helmet and having the earcaps "Key" into place. This way you guys just have to plug them in, no fiddling around trying to match things up or bolt on, unless you want to bolt them on. It will basically appear as the borden did in the last batch of pics. The male end on the earcap, female on the helmet.

Well here's the pics, I need to get some rest then I start building the RF.
I will be casting these up on WEDNESDAY if anyone is interested in aquiring one. You can email me at marrowsun@hotmail.com, put MS3 on the title. I'll have some sort of Information formletter to respond with.

    Thanks!

    Re: Marrow Sun Version 3

Shabad, I am working towards being available to do paint work for people. I am at the tail end of finishing my second Fett bucket. I will be posting pics shortly. The first I have pics on here already unfinished, I used it as a test subject to try all the different techniques. I have learned allot. Another good person to have paint your bucket would be either DarthMiller or SpideyFett, I believe they both do great jobs!! Shoot me a PM if you want me to send you pics of my latest work. If you want to inqure with the other guys do the same with them, there great guys!!!

The Borden Connector is the little round greeble that goes in the hole you see in his pics on the lower right cheek.

    S. Hunter,
The Borden connector is the small, round detail piece on Boba's right cheek. In M_S's pics, you can see a little circular depression where it will be attached.
It's called a Borden connector because. . . well, that's what it is! It's a piece manufactured by the Borden Company for use in dental offices. It's the piece that connects the "drill head" to an air line.
A lot of folks have gotten real Borden connectors to use on their helmets. The real ones are brass (if I recall correctly) and some people drill a matching hole and install it from the inside, or cut a slice off the connector and glue it onto the outside of the helmet.

Nope sorry I don't ever keep extra of anything. As for the exact price I will answer matters of $$ through E-mail or PM. But I can say they will be selling for around 40% more

Thanks for all the complements guys! I've been hard at work getting these things made up for those who just couldn't wait! Just FYI, I never did officially decide what the helmets would be made from. The initial batch is fiberglass with a liquid plastic skin. This surface coat is superior to gelcoat in everyway. Its strong, light and does not trap any air. You guys are going to love it! I guarantee!
I may decide to make all the helmets completely out of this stuff. It will easily be as durable as fiberglass and unless you through your helmet under a moving truck, your not going to break it. Its an option thats available to you if wanted.

Wow... MS... to say I am impressed with this bucket is a MAJOR understatement. I can't wait to see the finished product. I can only imagine that after this is complete, and given a proper paint job, it's going to look phenominal!

    Thank you for the images...

What the heck did I miss?! I guess thanks to all those guys who stood up for me!
I've avoided posting any of the close up shots of the detail changes for obvious reasons. Next week I'll post pics of a completed kit with the new RF, and polished ears. I'm pretty sick today so I'm not going to get the work done I wanted before the weekend. I'm off to Vancouver in the morning to watch some Hockey GO CANUCKS GO!

I'm only a day or two away from molding the RF pieces up. The main body is completed and I machined the 3 grooves into the insert yesterday. Only thing left to do is make up the lens cover and the small lens to go inside.

    Thanks for the update bro

Anxiously awaiting mine. Thank god I have my new (version 1) MLC jet pack to keep me busy til then. I'm actually having a blast reseaching everything, and getting myself set up for the painting process of all the pieces of the costume, it's 1/2 the fun of building it.

Have fun at the game man =)

i feel like i'm a future puppy owner, looking at pics from the breeder. which one's mine?

and on a less joking note... do you have any advice on a nice rotj visor? the guy that sells the rubies upgrade ones on ebay will cut me a larger one, but i'm not convinced that $20+ for a visor makes sense...

Yours is the 1 in the middle I used a smoked acrylic visor for my ROTJ. I bought it from the guy on ebay. Make sure he makes it longer left to right. This helmet's eye slit has been lenghtend 1/2" to match up to the MoM photos. Ask him to make is 11"wide and 7" long and you'll be plenty safe.

If you have a local weilding supply company close to you try there. Look for a dark green faceshield. You can get them online also.

I'm not guaranteeing anything Just make sure if he makes you one that the eye slit is at least 11" across and the lenth down the mandibles is at least 7" and you will have enought visor to easy cover the inside. Might have to trim a bit off the bottom. As for in side fit, maybe you will have to heat it up bend it to get a tight fit.

that's the problem... they only have green. since i'm doing RotJ, i want smokey.

i've emailed the ebay visor guy with the measurements. it's looking like $15 plus shipping will be the way to go.

    Re: Marrow Sun Version 3

    Hello everybody!

Well I went on a little trip over to visit our friend Marrow Sun and I came home last night with some goodies! I got the opportunity to cast my own helmet, so I did!

MS was kind enough to lend his incredible painting skills to do an amazing paint job on my helmet. He went for a PP2 scheme and I think you will agree that he got it spot on! I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking...

Oh,...... what a minute,......that can't be right,......Oh! Opps! That's my old broken POS rubber Don Post helmet with the 2 hour paint job from when I was 12 years old! I keep on getting these helmets mixed up!

But seriously folks (I'll be here all week! ), I did cast up my own helmet (#10 out of the mold!) and I now have a complete kit ready to start work on. This helmet is amazing and you all will love yours. It just has the correct look that lets you know this definitely has close ties to the original helmets.

I've got the cold-cast aluminum ear pieces (which still need trimming and a lot of sanding/polishing to bring out that metallic shine), a cute little cold-cast aluminum Borden connector, the multi-piece range finder (which looks pretty sharp!), and one of BigKidBiggerToys' slick new aluminum RF posts (thanks again BKBT!). I'll be going to town getting everything prep'ed and then I'll need to track down some paints!

For those naysayers who think that all MS is good at is pouring silicone, I have something to say to you. He can't even do that right! His first mold for the range finder parts left silly little part lines on the pieces, so I had to sort him out and show him what he should do! We re-made those molds, so all you guys will be getting nice pieces with your helmets (unlike me who is stuck with these ****** pieces from the old mold! ). He's getting all your parts together and will be starting shipping this week, so it won't be long now for you guys! I can safely say you won't be disappointed!

All and all, I couldn't be happier with this kit! I'll be going for a film-accurate ESB paint job, and I'll be going 100% layered on the paints for that really authentic feel. I too hope to start a progress thread for this guy, if you all aren't sick of those by now!

    All the best,

    MJC.
