I have to come up with a better name, there are too many helmets that sound simular. Well it would appear to be a popular week for showcasing new helmets. I've been working on this in my spare time the last couple months and its almost complete. THe earcaps and RF are still pretty rough and I'm designing a new 4 peice RF that will match the ESB helmet that will have a clear section that will pop in. Based on the old M_S bucket this helmet is slightly larger with crisper detail. There really hasn't been any surface that wasn't Filled, sanded or all together rebuilt or replaced. I feel this will be a very easy kit to assemble. Feel free to PM me with your feedback if there is something you feel needs to be changed before the molding process. I've added a pic of the old helmet side by side with the new.

Wow. Simply amazing. The mandible gap appears to get wider down the face of the helmet. I was under the impression that the gap width is constant. Is this a camera angle thing?

Keep us updated on the progress.

I think the camera distorded it a bit. I don't see it as being to big of an issue when costructing the helmet. Once the area is trimmed away and the new visor is placed in everything will line up straight. I may go back and correct this before molding. Thanks for the input.

    WOW!
    Right there!
    The definitive Boba Fett Helmet!
That is truly remarkable! I have to say that I especially like what you have done to the RF Earcap! That is much more Screen Acurate then the first one but I really like all the improvements!

The new helmet looks fantastic! I agree with E2K13, the RF ear cap came out real nice and much more screen accurate.

As far as the name goes, you could always call it:
    M_S II
    M_S v2.0
    M_S Part Duex
    M_S Reloaded
    M_S Returns
    or
    M_S Strikes Back

Do you have one that is dent-free? Perhaps with a slightly altered back ventalation configuration? Umm, by the way... Fa-Reakin' Awesome!

The color is good too. Can it be replicated in gloss-white as well? Send me a PM to where I send my PayPal. I am ready.

p.s. - You and BKBT are rockin' the bucket world hands down. And I must add that you have been blessed with the absence of pee-diddly, micro analytical, hyper-scrutinizing quibbling on the lack of molecular dimensional perfection in your replication to the real bucket like BKBT has...kudos friend. You must have your camera set on a better focal length too! HA!

I don't have many photo shop skills so there were no digital overlays done or anything like that. Everything I do is by eye or on advice of people who know better than myself.

Man. You're just gonna keep finding ways to get my money, huh? That's freakin awesome, I can't wait to see it finished. I'm particularly interrested in the new RF you described. You can put me on the list for one as soon as it's ready.

As for a name, I don't think it needs one. It's just the helmet. Outstanding.

I don't want to sound like a stick in the mud but....

What's the difference between this and the other MS helmet? And even more importantly... what's so different between the MS and the MSH2 or the Mystery Helmet? There are so many helmets out there now.

I don't want to sound like I'm putting your work down... because it looks GREAT! Just wondering why at this point.

Sorry if I'm offending... I don't mean to.

The RF earcap is a much needed inprovement - very nice. So, I thought your original Mystery helmet was the closest to the real thing so far. Why the need for an improvement? And, is it me or is the dome a lot taller?

The dome is definitely taller. I think it looks a bit too tall and too rounded now that I've stared at the pics. I also think the dent should be deeper and more refined with crisper edges. but that's just based on these pics so it all could be the angle/lighting. Still a great helmet though!

The dent has liquid latex painted into it to retain the detail I've given it. I didn't want to lose any of the crisp detail when the primer was applied. As for the accuracy of the helmet, I've never posted that it was the most accurate helmet available. My goal here was to offer a clean helmet that will be easy to put together and ready to paint. I've improved on areas that really needed it, like the crooked arrows, the earcap from the MS is not screen accrurate and the keyholes were in desperate need of cleaning. Camera angle has changed actual appearace a bit. There is about a 5mm difference in the size of the helmet from top to bottom.

Here is a shot from the other side of the helmet. It will show you that there is not that much dome added. More of a camera trick.

I think the perspective is slightly skewed because of the piece that is inside the T-Visor area on the M_S 2. It is sticking out a little on the bottom pushing the helmet upward creating the false image of the helmets height. On the side by side you can see what I mean.
I am definately a big fan of this one though and can't wait to get one.

YES. That was the other thing I forgot to point out. There is a small lip on the bottom of the visor that is definetly tilting the helmet back.

    Re: M_S 2

Well I've began making up a few of the new helmets and there turning out pretty good. I'm limiting the amount that I'll be making to 15. 3 for me and 2 are gifts for a couple real stand-up members You know who you are!

The kit wil come as shown on the prototype. The bottom will be trimmed but you will have to cut out the visor section as well the keyholes. I will include the MQ-1 as well the other pieces that attach, the only thing I have not had time to complete was the RF, it will be the same RF as the original kit. The helmet comes out of thee mold in one piece so there is no part line to clean up.

The way I'm doing this it kind of like silent auction, I've got 10 available slots, you PM me that your interested and your on the list. I do of course reserve the right to say "no way Jose" The price for the kit will be $185.00 plus shipping. ~$20.00 within North America

When I have the 10 interested people I'll put up the list and my PP info

Even though your in the Cold North of Canada, you still managed to do it!

I know the cold has played havoc with your gelcoat and stuff but as expected, you kept working out the details, lost some sleep and turned out another remarkable piece of work.
    Cheers!

That looks great man! I have a question regarding initials though so bear with me. The MS1, and MS2, are Natty's original Movie Sized, correct? And the M_S 1 and M_S 2's are Marrow Sun buckets. So technically the M_S 1 = MH (Mystery Helmet) and the M_S 2 is the fixed up MH...

Am I right firstly, and secondly, does anyone elses head hurt?

Yeah, then you've got the people confusing the MS2 and the M_S2 with the MSH2.

My vote still stands for just naming it the helmet.

is it just me or is the dome of the helmet to round. It looks like the dome should be a little flater on top if you know what I mean.

    Re: M_S 2

The dome is rounder and slightly off from screen accuracy. I never made this helmet with the intentions of it being the ultimate in accuracy. My goal was to offer the board a clean helmet that was easy to assemble and slightly larger for those with noggin issues

    Re: M_S 2

I thought they same too, but from what I have heard, and what I have been trying to verify, the original was mostly round.
Apparently during the molding process of one of the orginal helmets, it was set on it's dome to "dry" (Not sure which one...) and VOILA~ instant flat spot.

Then again, I also heard that they were bringing back American Bandstand, but THAT never happened...THANK GOD!

Probably because no offense to anyone here but there are so many great options available. That and its getting a bit redundant. What I mean by that is... I've got a MSH2 and love it. I think its personally the closest thing to the real deal I've ever seen in person. I'm not going to sell it and buy a whole new helmet just because of a few minor sculpting changes.... just not worth it.

Again... no offense to ANYONE regarding helmets because there is so much great work done here. I just can't justify buying a new helmet because this has a one piece earcap or something.

Everytime someone sculpts a new helmet everyone jumps all over it saying its the best thing since sliced bread and then something else comes out.

    MS,

That thing's coming along beautifully! Is there a way to get a pic or two a few inches farther away? The closeups are nice for detail, but I think they're distorting/skewing the helmet a bit, in reference to the front visor width I mentioned earlier.

Are the mandibles still parallel to each other?

Sorry if I seem to be nagging on this...

Pics look OK. Bit I gotta agree with the others. There are so many great options regarding helmets at the moment that it does seem a bit redundant.

    No offence.

Plus the dome looks waaay different now. Not sure that was the way to go.

On a positive slant though. The keyslots look pretty good. Good job there.

I guess I still need to clarify this, hmmm, the helmet was something I made up for fun. Just did work on it as I had time. I'll be the first to admit that it's not screen accurate. If I had wanted a screen accurate helmet I wouldn't have touched a thing. I simply decided to make up a cleaner slightly larger (it's really only about 5mm bigger) helmet for a few guys that wanted one. It is in NO WAY meant to be the definitive Boba Bucket. What it is though, is a clean, well made reproduction that is quite affordable compared to some of the other kits. I take no offence from comments everyone is entitled to there own opinions, and if your happy with your current helmet that's great. I'm not trying to throw it in your faces.

Bat ninja, the mandibles are not quite parallel, but after trimming out one of the helmets. I find that it makes no difference when fitting in a visor. They come together great.

Normally I would not respond to anything that does Not HELP the thread (as you can tell by my history).....BUT......Without missing up Marrows thread, I have to say "Webchief" your comments about MARROWS helmet are really unnessary....I mean just because you SAY you mean "no offense to ANYONE" doesn't mean NO one will take offense. And it doesn't give you the right to call out people who CHOOSE to purchase more than one helmet that's better that than last one they had.
I mean Just because it 's not justifiable to you to upgrade doesn't mean others feel the same as you.....or care that you think it's justifiable....

Like the greatest helmet has already been made, right?? So I guess there's NO point in trying to continue to make a better one..or a "MORE AFFORDABLE" helmet. Which by the way if you read Marrows comments shows that "Affrodable" is what he is tring to do....
Besides it's not like everyone here had an Opportunity to purchase an MSH2, and those that did didn't want to get our eyes-poked with WAY OVER PRICING.

My point is WHY make a comment at all if it doesn't help MARROW with actual valid Opinons about his helmet...

"A Great Opinon is always needed and appeciated, but a sorry comment is just unnessary and a waste of a good thread".....Which the reason I'm not going to respond to any comments after I post this BTW.

I've said this before; This is the main reason I hate to posting anything, Because people post the most unnessary Sarcastic comments that DON'T HELP.....Which is want we are suppose to be doing here.

Can you tell I had a bad day at work... .

    Sorry MARROW.

    Spidey... PM Sent!

I made my comments based on a comment by someone else who was surprised that people weren't jumping all over the helmet. I offered my reason why I wouldn't and speculated that it might be why others weren't as well. Interesting how someone else agreed two posts later but you didn't see fit to publicly attack them.

Sorry for the interruption folks... not my intention no matter what Spidey seems to think.

    Spideyfett,

Yes, we can see you had a bad day at work but please do not take it on your brothers here at TDH. I think you have misunderstood what wc wrote. If you look at it again, I think you will see he is simply stating his opinion in regards to why he will not be purchasing a MS2 (not to mention that MS has already said he isn't really doing a run of these...) He is not condemning those who do. You have attributed a massive amount of derogatory comments to wc that he never made or implied. I believe wc would tell you ( and feel free to correct me if I am wrong, wc) that if you have the money and feel compelled to upgrade each and every time something new comes out then more power to you, but he is satisfied with his MSH2. Nothing more than that. I would caution everyone to think very carefully about what you say, especially if it is negative, before you post it. This is the second incidence we have had like this within a week. Please do not make me start issuing sedatives or the dreadded "be happy and friendly" pills I issue to the admin staff each day...

Hey Guys I appriciate all the good stuff thats been said and I'm always open to constructive critism. The only point/perspectice I'd like to leave you with is an example. Lets say when Henery Ford created the Model T in 1908 people were content the drive it forever without any variety. There just isn't 1 car for every driver. Variety is the spice of life.

    Don't Worry....Be happy

    Hey man,
Don't diss what you have. If you could only get a Rubies at the time and you put the time and effort into it to bring it up to your own satisfaction, be happy.
The cool thing is we all have different levels within our own critiques and preferences of our own costumes. It is an addiction too.
I was considering purchasing a cast set of shin tools and then after talking to a friend decided, "Why purchase a cast set when your only going to upgrade that at a later time and the cost of the parts will almost equal each other whether it is a cast VS the real deal?"
I could have just got the casting but my anal nature just ate at me causing me to go ahead and make the purchase. LOL

    You're right man!

My first bucket was a Don Post 97 from Ebay (yes. that classic!).

I sanded and sanded it to try and change the dome.

I replaced the visor with some tinted film and hand painted it. I thought it looked awesome at the time.....but in hindsight, it kinda sucked.

    I wish I had pix.

It all boils down to, we all have different levels of perfection. If it floats your boat then that's all that counts!

I'm working on a K3PO head at the moment. But I guess this isn't the thread (or forum) to post pics.

Plus I'm a newbie and don't have a clue how to!

The new helmet looks awesome! I have one of the first helmets that M_S sold on Ebay (with the blue gel coat interior) and I love that one too. I have an orange on a toothpick for a head, just ask Eddie, he's seen me in person and the helmet fits very well and is proportionate to my body. M_S, would you ever consider doing a Jango sculpt of the new helmet?

Ok, I'm curious and accept my apologies if this has been asked before. The Marrow's. In comparison to a DP, what is the difference in materials, thickness, etc.

I am not too familiar with fiberglass, but I am alergic to fiberglass insulation. Is it the same? i know that is the stupidest thing ever typed, but I am honestly unsure. I dont want to get a FG helm and die while wearing it, lol.

You should be fine in a fiberglass helmet, the fiberglass itself is laminated with polyester resin, so there is no accual contact with the fiberglass itself.
