    Looking for smaller Helmet Size

    Hey there everyone,

I've recently recieved a movie size helmet, to find it was absolutely huge on me... :-S and am seriously considering getting a smaller one..

I am a 5'5"-5'6" medium/stocky build, with a 22.5 inch/57.5 cms circumference head, which is 9.5/10 inches high, from chin to top.

What is the best helmet for me, as I really dont want to look like a Bobble head... Id rather go buy a DP97 or a rubies before that...

Anyways if anyone can help, I d love as much as i could get...

    Cheers all

The smallest helmet that's actually decent looking is the DP95.

anyone got one lying around they they feel like parting with...?

and if its all set up for a RF servo kit all the better

... or any other decent looking one that is a smaller build... as long as it can be done up to look like the RotJ Helmet reasonably easily

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

Cheers Tim, hmm seems like im wandering off the DP 95 then, especially since seeing the domes flat top :S ive been told many types now that would be suitable maybe. Its a pity that I'm no where near anyone who has a few different types that I could try on and feel/see the sizes myself..

I suppose im rather finicky, but if anyone out there knows of one thats RotJ accurate, that is able to have a RF servo system added to it, and is able to fit a head 6.75 inch left side to right, 7.75 front to back, and 8.75 top to bottom, without the bobblehead effect, then perfect. Paintjob isnt an issue

Cheers all, hopefully someone out there knows exactly what im after and may be willing to part with one

the 95 doesn't have a flat dome, the 95 is the preferred helmet of the mass produced helmets, aside from the master replicas ofcourse.

the DP97 has the flat top and like all of the rubies ones, dont waste your time with an alltmans. www.tk409.com has a comparrison of a 95dp and a mystery helmet

Cheers Zomb... Btw off topic i really love that pic.. taking a look now at the DP comparison. How hard is it to get the Rangefinder Upgrade Kits for them... I may have just gotten myself a DP 95 maybe... scouting that out.. and is there any major warping problems/inaccuracies with them?

Thanks, I'm not sure on how hard it is to upgrade a DP range finder, either way, they're not hard to make. I'm sure someone here makes an aluminum stalk that will fit it.

The DP96 has the best shape IMHO. I have one and and incomparison to the 95 & 97 which I have seen both of as well, the 96 is the standout of those 3. It is also smaller in size compared to most of the fan made buckets out there!

Just as a thought, have you considered scaling the WOF plans down a tad and building your own? Although, I have to agree that the DP 95 would be a good way to go.

once you get it you could 'glass the inside that should give it plenty of rigidity to have it stand up to most bumps and bruises short of tossing it off a building. i'll be doing that with my fang's probably next weekend.

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

The MLC2 helmet was specifically built for smaller framed hunters. It's size is between a DP and a Movie size helmet. It is built entirely out of fiberglass, comes sanded smooth and primered grey. You'd need to attach the ears, stalk, RF, etc. And provide a visor. The visor area is cut out when you receive the helmet.

If you're interested in more info,
Could I get you to send me a email to my yahoo account- bountyshunted@yahoo.com I keep all MLC Fett Gear pricing, shipping, etc. in a folder there. It's just much easier to keep track of orders in one place.

    Many Thanks!

    take care,

    -Rex

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

The Don Post 95, 96 are made of a hard vinyl - you'd have a hard time breaking one. It could melt, however, if you leave it in a hot car too long. Could be an issue if you made a cast in resin, but many people here have the Sgt. Fang (which is resin) and have not had problems (a few have though - still thinking of Chris )

The main probem with the DP's are the mandibles, but that can be corrected with a metal ring at the bottom of the helmet. Even a flat dome can be corrected, but you should not have that issue with those helmets. The ones to look for, if you head that way, are the ones with the white interior. My undertsanding is that they are better formed and less prone to melting in hot weather.

    Good luck!

Hmmmm.... Grrr for melting.... I live in Western Australia, and it can get really... really... really hot here...

Does anyone know of a DP '95 sized (obviously being the smallest adult sizing) helmet made of something that wont melt or break, ie fibreglass or Resin... for reference here is a pic of me with a movie sized helmet... dont laugh too hard...

    Can we say Bobblehead much?

This is mostly why i want the smallest one. i can fit a whole fist sideways between a side of my head and the bucket wall...

You know, that movie sized doesn't really look horrible on you. Remember, the bucket will always look big, especially without the rest of the costume. You'd be surprised how different it will appear once the rest of the suit blends with it. If you do go for the DP, try to find the DP95 or 96. You can usually find DP96 a little easier and they have a pretty good shape to them

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

Yes, the 96 is a much better buy if you go DP. They used the white vinyl part way into 96 as well. You would have a problem with resin melting as well, which is why everyone says to be careful when you glass them.

I agree though, once you put some armor on I am not sure that the movie helmet would be that far off for you. Although Bulloch is listed at around 6' tall so maybe the DP would be a better fit.

Kid Akira had a smaller helmet for sale. Think it was fiberglass. Not sure if he still has it.

I think that helmet size looks about right, especially when you add the suit and armour and such. I find even the movie Fett sometimes looks like he has a somewhat a large noggin in some shots. It just seems to work though. It seems to make him more menacing. My two cents.

I'm gonna have to agree with the others and say the same thing, it doesn't look bad at all.

To be sure, try a full frontal shot, from the top of your head to your abs....that should give us a better prespective on the sizing issue you have with the helm.

Remember what i said though bro, I'm using a BM and an MS3 and I look fine.

    Stay safe,

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

Its not just the helmet width really, its the height that is the main problem... the way it fits works out that where the T-slot for looking through is, isnt where it would fit best with my head/neck.

Were i to don the armour and have my head when it needs to be in the helmet, I wouldnt have much movement options at all with my head, as the mandibles would hit the armour as well as the cheek/ears...

Ive got no problem with the whole no neck thing, but being my stature with that huge helmet makes it a little difficult to do... :s

btw i have a rather broad and muscly shoulder/collarbone/upper arm build, which is why it causes problems....

Something Just a tad smaller would work well... In fibreglass preferably compatible with the Servo RF system... I know I said it b4 lol but im just a picky guy lol... and finiky with details... :p Thanks everyone so far with the comments and input

don't feel at all bad about how far down the helmet comes. there are plenty of no-neck fetts out there. jeremy bulloch had an inordinatly long neck. things that some of out no-neck fetts have done is extra padded the top and walked around looking through the down line of the visor.

pm me and i'll meet your helmet needs.

I am currently making full costumes for 3 sizes, kids, juniors and adults.

You can buy the pieces seperate, or together. The unpainted helmet is $50. Paint jobs are very cheap and very pro.

Here is the website link. It just got started, so look for massive updates every day.

    http://mandalorian-manor.tripod.com/

There should be about 15 different paint designs, as well as massive armor designs from EU to OT. Cheaper then anywhere, and very durable vacuformed pieces. The photo on the website is the 3 - 6 year old to costume, just one of them.

    P.M. me

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

I am currently working on a 1995 Don Post helmet with white interior . I bought it in 1995 for Halloween and it has sat on my shelf for 12 years. My first helmet and most likely my last, if my wife has anything to say about it. I have been trying for an ESB style helmet . I am pretty frustrated right now as my two year old son broke my visor . I was having trouble mounting it anway, using bolts ala the Spideyfett method. It is hard to be mad at him when he says, "Sorry Daddy, broke Bohbaaa" . I just got a little over spray that will need to be sanded and fixed because I didn't have it masked well enough and was using the AFettFullofDollars spraypaint method. I can't find masking fluid anywhere in my area. I did find all of the spray paint colors though . I am in the finishing stages. If it doesn't turn out well I will sell it to you as I see you are in need of a smaller helmet. I will let you know how it goes .

Nope its an ILM Jango replica.... needs a bit of work but its a decent MSH.. there are a few people here that have one, im sure BobaMaker picked up one to play with as well.

NLogan, keep me updated with that one, the white ones are almost impossible to find over here, but even then i may still be a bit wary with it, considering Perth heat this year looks to excel 45 degrees C.... and i wouldnt want it melting on me....

Dude, the Jango is not really considered a MSH even though it's technically "movie sized" for Jango. You're not going to find a helmet much smaller than that that. Its barely larger than a DP95.

Thanks Loveless, but i'll be going with something a little more forgiving than styrene. Lots of people here swear by it, but there is a reason that you wont really see it in Western Australia, and that is the heat factor....plus also i can repair Fibreglass as I am a qualified surfboard repairer

My Interior measurements are as follows... Ear to Ear: 9 inch, Mandibles to back: 10.5 inch, Dome Rim to bottom of Ear: 5.5 inch, Dome top to rim~ 4.4 inch...

ill post pics when i get home from work

Halo 1, Most the armor I sell is custom, but do sell the replicas.

I was just wondering why they changed the helmet size. Thats all. Also, why would you come on a completly different thread and not reply to the original thread this was posted in??? You dont have an answere to the questions I asked do you?

The official size is boba, not jango. And I honestly dont have a clue as to why he has a dimple on his cheek. Care to answer any of those questions instead of smakin or trying to discredit me???

I dont see how those questions effect me creating a replica fett helmet and custom helmets.
Go talk to Tye Tigger bro, half the guys workin for him cant even tell you who's lightsaber belongs to who, but they dont have a problem with replicating sabers for the films do they.

And yes, I know alot about fett. Probably more then you as you lack the intelligence to answer my questions and instead try to discredit me on a totally different thread, get a life bro!!!

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

Ok no more badgering of people in my thread... im im going to have to beat someone up lol....

Sorry loveless, but I do stand with Halo on this one, mostly as he has helped me out more than anyone else on this forum, lol a 'brother from another mother' so to speak... Not directly saying that you are wrong, but I do think you may need to go back and double check all of your sources... btw that little circle shaped thing on the cheek is a Borden Adaptor...

Anyways, back to the point of this post.... My hunt for a new helmet is on hold temporarily, as I need all my money and effort to get back to Tazzie, as my Grandfather died not too long ago this morning...

Anyways, I will be popping in and keeping up to date with everything on the boards, but my priorities lay elsewhere temporarily...

Take care everyone in my absence,

    Matt

Regardless of what the "dimple" on his cheek actually is - does anyone know why it is there? Sure, it's a Borden Converter, but in the movie universe what does it do?

Not trying to take sides, or add to the "friendly discussion", but I think that's what loveless might be asking. Can anyone actually tell us exactly what the little doo-dad is supposed to do on Fett's helmet? Is it a microphone? A sensor of some kind? Or does it just help him look fashionable on Bounty Hunter night at the Charity Ball?

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

To know that you may want to ask the guys who built the helmet... here we just re-create it.. until recently it wasnt known to us here, until a new person to the boards announced it and opened up an extra resource to us..

Im going to guess it has something to do with his voice unit, as he comes off with a slightly synthetic/amplified voice, and has no where for it to come from. THe TK's have the speaker spots, but the mandalores dont..

However I have seen hoses put int the helmet where the Borden is, so it may even have an air purification/air supply purpose... really its all just speculatory...

Re: Looking for smaller Helmet Size

Just found it.. and then lost the link as my pc crashed... :S and the history too...

The Border Adaptor is a Microphone/Speaker set up... recieving and transmitting sound over various frequencies... dont know if the site was legit, but it makes sense....

Oh and btw I am now the very Proud new owner of a Bobamaker Deluxe Helmet Kit, with an additional Hollow Rangefinder stalk kit for when I upgrade the electronics in the future...

Turns out that the Helmet I had isnt size accurate really, and alot of my gear isnt either... stung by the flea bay.. :S

Live and Learn I suppose. But teh BM kit is a perfect fit for me, and I thank Halo_1/Tim for the best guidance in getting this helmet

    Kudos

In Time my young Padawan :p... It will be RotJ... there... hopefully since I have my other helmet ill practice on that first... and I got it off another member here so thats how i got it so quick.. I have heard BM is a busy man also... thats why i jumped at this, well that and Halo_1's reccommendation..

I will most probably have it all listed in my main thread.... much easier to keep track of it all in one place..

    http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=20888

there is the link for those interested... I figure since his costume is pretty much an armour set, it was best to put all of it in the Armour Forum... :p
