Larger helmet makers?

Not too keen on handcrafting my own helmet, don't have the know how or time to do so. I have an unbuilt Asok cold cast helmet that I never built because it's too small for my head. My nose presses up against the visor and the cheeks of the helmet dig into the cheeks of my face. Would not be comfortable to wear on troops. So, I'm looking for something a larger troop might wear. I'm 6'2, don't know my head size really but I'm a bigger guy. Any leads on a larger, accurate helmet?

I have a larger melon myself, also 6' 2", which is why I'm 3D printing my ESB Boba helmet. It's important to know how big your head is, cuts down on ordering the wrong size of helmets. Take a string, or body measuring tape and measure around your head, just above the eyebrows. That way you'll know if it'll fit perfect.

When you say you have an Asok cold cast, are you referring to a GMH? If so then most of the other Boba Fett helmets out there will be larger. The GMH is cast off of a screen used but it is smaller than many helmets. Most of the casts that are from a MR or if they are labeled MSH will be better suited for you. Bobamaker helmets are similar in size to the GMH so shy away from them.

The FP Budget cast and the FP Premium should work for you. They are now being produced by other craftsmen here on the boards. I believe the DV helmets are comparable in size to the MR casts also. One last thing.......fiberglass helmets tend to have a bit more room inside as opposed to the resin cast. The fiberglass is stronger so less thickness is needed to make a strong helmet. So that often means more room on the inside.

and just for clarity since you don't have a lot of posts here is what each of the abbreviations I have used mean:
MR Master Replicas
MSH Movie Sized helmet
GMH Grant McCune Helmet
FP Fettpride
DVH Darth Voorhees Helmet

Hope that helps

Mulreel is pretty right...but Asok also made the budget fettpride helmet in cold cast. So if you posted a pic of the helmet it would be better to advise you....

Pretty much the largest helmet right this second being produced is the FPH2....if you can find one the FPH (not FPH2) is the biggest helmet Ive ever seen....

If a GMH is cast off a screen used helmet, how can it be smaller than a MSH? Unless I misunderstood something. Thanks for the info though, I was gonna start doing research into what all the terminology meant when I had time. I bought this Asok helmet years ago but just now am starting a Boba Fett build, after finishing my stormtrooper I feel confident enough to not screw this up. And I just measured with tailors tape, I have a 24' head, measuring just above the ears and over the eyebrows.

What I have gathered from many discussions threads here on the GMH and comments from members much smarter than I, is that the GMH size mystery could be attributed to the old mold being used years later with shrinkage or being based on a plug that shrunk or that was made with a material that had a lot of shrinkage.

So GMH is definitely not for you.

As for DVH size, this is is from the DVH helmet thread.
" the wearable area is about 29" and the smallest area you would put your head through at the cheeks is 27.5".
I also measured my DVH a few weeks back, and I got very similar numbers, and since each is a hand layup some variation would be normal.

What you have is a FP Budget cast in cold cast. That is a fairly decent sized helmet but there are some that will fit a bit larger. The FP Budget is larger than the GMH by a noticeable amount.

As far as why the difference in helmet size...............that is best found out by reading a ton of the history here on the site. Read the write up on the GMH and you will see what I mean. And that doesn't even touch other helmets that may or may not have been direct descendants of actual screen used helmets.

I would definetly go with what F4R and get a FPH2 or a orginal FPH.

Just one side note: the GMH was never cast from a screen used helmet, because the Pre-Pro #2 helmet (the master for all the mystery, MF, GMH and CT helmets) was never used in the movies. The Pre-Pro #2, Promo #1 (which later became the base for the ROTJ) and Promo #2 (or Sandy) suits were specially made for promotional purposes:

Thanks guys, really appreciate it. Now to find out the differences between DVH and FPH2. I see Wasteland is selling an FPH2 prototype, I don't know how it works over here but is he pretty much the only one allowed to sell it now that he has the molds? It looks like Animefan may be selling FPH2 as well, but I can't really tell.

Raf makes an important point there. It would be correct to use the term production based helmet when referring to anything derived from the PP2 helmet such as the GMH. There are various theories as to why the GMH is shrunken but for the purpose of your needs they're irrelevant; it's small.

It's important to clear up something else; several helmets out there are derived from the Master Replicas helmet including yours. Whatever labels get applied after the fact it's the case that the Fettpride budget, Fettpride Premium, Animefan helmets of the same suffixes, the Asok budget, and the DVH helmet are all the spawn of the MR. Your Asok is slush resin and that tends to create a smaller interior due to the thickness required to give strength in the resin so a fibreglass version of the same helmet would be bigger inside but not loads bigger. The MR is one of the larger helmets out there right now.

The FPH2 is about the same size at the MR but a different shape. It's slightly larger in the base circumference but it's smaller in height and in the dome. I don't think there's an appreciable size difference. I think F4R and SJ are on the right track in terms of the biggest helmets out there so you probably need one of those older helmets.

The DVH is the same size as what you have now. Its a recast MR helmet. If you have problems fitting in the Asok helmet you likely would have problems with a FPH2 also.

The problem finding a FPH orMSH for that matter is their many years old....maybe asking around for someone selling one and you might find one....but some people dont like to part with things theyve had for years. (still looking for pics lost alot when my hard drive crashed)

After some hunting....I found some. These are the pics i was looking for....FP premium (same as the budget basically with ears that come off for all intensive purposes) and the FPH I did for skyminer many years ago. Noticeably larger.

my measurement is about 23 1/2 so its pretty close to yours. The helmets that i make are larger just for that reason. I had a lot of request to make a larger helmet for comfort reasons and for adding electronics. 011.JPG[010.JPGQUOTE=zemzero;697883]If a GMH is cast off a screen used helmet, how can it be smaller than a MSH?
