    Sep 16, 2002, 4:07 AM - Journeymanprotector's Second Helmet #1

    Hey folks,
*edit: It's not entirely finished but this is what it will look like in the end. I may give it a dullcoat to keep the shine down a little. If anything was wrong with my first suit it's that it was too shiny. The helmet's not entirely accurate but I like to think of the suit as a post-rotj suit, so who knows what it looks like Translation: you can't say anything! lol. So, here she is.

    end edit**
Just a few shots of my new wip Fett helmet. She's a 97, but actually I'm very impressed with the shape and quality. Surprising I know...

It's nothing like Motorfish's or that showoff Fettpride's work, but it's all a poor old farmboy like me can do lol...

The base is a 1933 Sage from Rustoleum.
The Grey is acrylic 'Graphite' from Americana
The Rust is acrylic 'Russet' from Americana

The weathering was actually all done with an x-acto blade, revealing different layers. I'm not done, I do plan to get in there with some pewter or lead or something.

    Thanks for looking,
    Phil

Looking good! The grey looks kinda blue though.
Nice weathering. You're right though the shape isn't bad for a '97

Well I built the first out of less desirable parts that I acquired in a lot. I have better ones, or will be buying better parts, soon and selling my current suit to fund that. The first helmet was signed by JB at comic-con so I need to make another for the suit. That's what this one is

I'll shortly be getting my 'final' helmet, the same as Braksbuddy's...

Hopefully my suit will bring in enough to buy the upgrades

    Thanks !
    Phil

Nice piece you got there. Your "final" is going to be a fiberglass?

Yeah, it should be coming within the next month or so

I'm fed up with the vinyl dp's and the constant threat of warpage etc... I'm really looking forward to having a solid, very well proportioned helmet.

    Thanks for the kind words
    Phil
